Well. Rolling with Difficulty finally did. It finally made me actually legitimately cry.
Katya’s mom fucking got me y'all
“It’s a strange feeling — to have total faith in someone’s abilities, and yet fear every day with all your heart that they will never make it home again. But you’re finally back. Welcome home, Katya.”
Don’t worry op, you’re not the only one!
The Hunting Party: it's a little fucked up to ask someone else to decide whether you should revive a corpse or not.
Kireek: So next time don't tell anyone, and sneak away to do it in secret. Got it got it. 👍
“Wouldn’t it suck if Dani liked her new found family better?”
That’s like. Exactly what happened between her and the Heap crew.
Headcanon that Dani and VR-LA make up the craziest things when anyone asks them what kind of things they did before Finbar joined the crew. Some things they say say are so outlandish they have to be false, but some things are just realistic enough that Finbar is scared they might be true. And they are so in tune with each other too. One of them will start telling an absolutely bonkers story that has to be made up and the other will just agree and add in things so well it really seems like they’re remembering a true event. They even sometimes make references to crazy things that happened before unprompted, and Kyana and Finbar are very concerned. Any time someone asks if they are lying they, without fail respond with “idk what you’re talking about, I’ve never lied in my life” Kyana and Finbar have no idea this whole thing is a joke or not
I’m trying to catch the total solar eclipse happening today — but thanks to a delightful phenomenon known as Autumnal Norwegian Weather, it’s looking like it’ll be about as visible as a transparent needle in a rainbow haystack
Can you imagine actually getting to experience the incredibly rare astronomical phenomenon of a solar eclipse? It sounds absolutely breathtaking!
TOO BAD I CAN’T SEE SHIT
For context, this is what my astronomy app is currently showing:

KICK THE CAN!
Let’s play the biggest game of kick the can on the internet.
To kick the can, reblog it. I wanna see how long this can go on for.
the oldest reblogs for this post that i can find are from january 2nd of 2013. this can has been getting kicked around tumblr for almost 13½ years now
And yet somehow this is my first time kicking it!
We’ll see when it comes back to get kicked again
[gripping the sink with white knuckles] to be cringe is to be free. here's me reading rocky to sleep because I love him and they should let me do that
I love u angry female characters. I love u deeply misunderstood and problematic female characters. I love u cold hearted and sharp female characters. I love you prideful and reckless female characters. I love u unbeautifly destructive female characters. I love u prickly and snarky female characters. not everyone understands u but I do and I'm listening
Katya and Garou: *fight, bicker, argue, constantly threaten to make the party fall apart*
Kireek:
This post has become exponentially funnier in light of recent c3 events
Extremely self-indulgent trystya doodle because the ramifications of s3e3 has me in shambles and I need them all to be okay
Send me to Mars with party supplies before next august 5th
No guys you don’t understand.
The soil testing equipment on Curiosity makes a buzzing noise and the pitch of the noise changes depending on what part of an experiment Curiosity is performing, this is the way Curiosity sings to itself.
So some of the finest minds currently alive decided to take incredibly expensive important scientific equipment and mess with it until they worked out how to move in just the right way to sing Happy Birthday, then someone made a cake on Curiosity’s birthday and took it into Mission control so that a room full of brilliant scientists and engineers could throw a birthday party for a non-autonomous robot 225 million kilometres away and listen to it sing the first ever song sung on Mars*, which was Happy Birthday.
This isn’t a sad story, this a happy story about the ridiculousness of humans and the way we love things. We built a little robot and called it Curiosity and flung it into the star to go and explore places we can’t get to because it’s name is in our nature and then just because we could, we taught it how to sing.
That’s not sad, that’s awesome.
*this is different from the first song ever played on mars (Reach For The Stars by Will.I.Am) which happened the year before, singing is different from playing
This is humanity
Happy Birthday, Curiousity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity!
Happy birthday, Curiosity!💕
Happy Birthday, Curiosity
I'm sorry, Trys being very relieved and feeling safe that Katya can counterspell her is the GAYEST shit I've ever seen
This, coupled with the fact that Trys seems to be the only one correctly reading and understanding Katya’s current headspace? And is the one who immediately clocks that Katya needs space, letting her go and trusting that she’ll return if she wants to?
Oh yeah, trystya fans are eating well this season
This is about Sci-Hub. yeah we get it.. gatekeep knowledge and protect the interests of capital…
Listen, this is serious.
Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!
It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.
Like, it’s literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.
So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?
Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.
Oh, and while we’re talking about books, if you’ve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely don’t go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately they’re completely free.
Reblogging so you know which sites to totally avoid
Another inside tip from academia: Those papers in really expensive journals that are effectively inaccessible to anyone not in a university network? Depending on the discipline it’s very likely that same paper is on a “preprint” server somewhere, with no access restrictions.
Like if you want to read basically any physics, math, or CS paper, arXiv.org will have you covered, because everyone uploads their papers there before submitting to a journal (and generally updates it after peer review). I know all of my papers are on there. This is such common practice that journals have it baked into their licensing agreements that authors retain the right to upload their work to these places.
So the next time you get hit with that paywall, you may not even need sci-hub, just click the arxiv link on google scholar instead.
if for some reason none of this works, the old “send a email nicely asking for the paper to the author” is always a good trick. remember most scientists hate the commercialisation of scientific knowledge
Don’t mind me, just gotta share this with my bf so that he knows what websites to avoid
Many authors of papers are on ResearchGate! You can ask for papers there, if they don’t just post a copy to download. If they’re associated with a college, you can usually find their email addresses in the department directory, also.
Always reblog.
Okay headcanon time. I think Katya has a terrible habit of just grabbing anything that looks even mildly interesting. A shiny rock, a cool looking plant, animal bones, feathers, sticks, a chunk of moss or tree bark— if it catches Katya’s eye, even odds she'll pick it up without even thinking about it. Usually it goes straight into the hat of holding to be immediately forgotten about. Half of the space in her hat at this point is just random shit she's picked up and she has no recollection of any of it.
But as they get closer, Katya starts using her friends pockets for the same purpose. Kireek and Trys both find their pockets and bags are full of random shit after every adventure, and are like "what the fuck...?" It’s not that they don't know Katya’s doing it, because she's not sneaky about it. She just does it so casually and with zero preamble that they don't think to question. Whoever she's standing next to at any given moment— barring Garou— has a good chance of her reaching over to stick something in the nearest pocket available to her. She has all of their pockets memorized at this point so she doesn't even have to look, she just does it.
Trys returns to the grove after every adventure feeling her clothes are noticeably heavier, and she'll turn out her pockets to just find handfuls of pebbles in there. Maybe a sprig of a plant or two. One time there was a full on bird skull. It would be somewhat annoying, except on a pure instinctive level, it's hard for Trys not to register this as Katya giving her gifts/offerings. She starts picking out her favourite things from each haul and keeping them in a pile in her room as part of her hoard. She grows quite attached to it too. It's, again, mostly instinctual, but she'd be lying if she said there wasn’t a part of her that just likes when Katya gives her things. She takes to organizing the pile during the hours everyone else is sleeping and she's bored out of her mind.
Inevitably Katya ends up in Trys' room, sees the pile, and immediately goes, "What the fuck is this garbage?" And Trys, both offended and deeply embarrassed, has to explain that yes, it is garbage, but it's garbage Katya gave her, so it's important. Katya doesn't have half a clue what do with that, except she does notice that the things Trys has kept for her pile are largely the shiny or sparkly rocks.
And if Katya starts making a deliberate effort to give the shinier rocks she picks up to Trys after that, well that's nobody's business but her own.
