Also when being bred in captivity(this is done at my work and my job is to teach people about it) to get them to reproduce from the polyp stage of life, we have to intentionally cause them enough stress to reproduce but not enough to harm them. Lately we’ve done that by cleaning their habitat extra well, makes them think the word is ending

trying to figure out when mirroring someone else's energy and being a good conversationalist becomes losing your own identity

favorite new food hack is to put leftovers into a smoothie. especially if I no longer want to eat it but it's still good. today it was a half-eaten chocolate cupcake, three spoons of chia pudding, two spoons of protein powder, some water, a cup of milk, a singular dark chocolate square, and half an oreo + crumbs

A thing that is maybe ultimately harmless but also kind of… not exactly a pet peeve but it just makes me feel iffy, is assuming if someone has somewhat unusual interest(s) that in and of itself is equivalent to an autism/ADHD diagnosis, so therefore someone who doesn't fall under that can't possibly be interested in anything outside of the normal.

like yes that is one of many possible symptoms, I myself am diagnosed with ADHD, but I dunno, I don't think I'd be a completely different person with zero likes/interests if I didn't have it. Neurotypical people have weird fascinations too. Just talk to a "normie" long enough. People don't need to be born a certain way and have an innate neurodevelopmental condition to be curious about the world around them. One of the most rewarding parts of education and science communication is finding ways to reawaken curiosity in a wide range of different people, something everyone had as kids but some of us have been conditioned to ignore.

#also not having a voice in your head aka an internal monologue doesn't mean that you don't think?#pretty sure the distribution of people who have an internal monologue isn't even correlated with autism/ADHD #you can think in images and phrases too. be vague in your head and then visualize and be more specific through writing and speaking #doesn't mean you 'exist' until a task is given to you. I'm perplexed #curiosity is universal #also something that makes me feel iffy is how 'hyperfixation' is being used to describe everything as well #being fascinated and passionate about something doesn't equate hyper fixation. focus != hyper fixation. doesn't imply autism/ADHD #everyone with a phd or a major in college would have a deeper understanding of a specific topic too like #maybe an autistic/ADHD person would gain a lot of knowledge about a specific topic really quickly in one bout of obsession #vs putting more effort consistently over time but like people just work with different behavioral tendencies yk

Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!
