One thing I love about Nora’s writing is that she captures every character’s personality in their perspective. Even in his head, you don’t see Jeremy being rude to people very much, while on the other hand Jean and Neil rosy the living shit out of everyone in their minds. A lot of the time in books you can tell which characters the author likes the most based on how other perspectives view them, but with Nora, you could never tell that Andrew was her favourite character when reading Jean’s perspective. That’s why I’m so excited for Kevin’s books, to see how he truly views the other characters.

Kevin has internalized homophobia because he’s so afraid to be gay in case it affects his career, he doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with being gay but chooses to stay in the closet as it’s “easier to remain heterosexual”

Aaron and Seth have internalized homophobia because they were raised in environments that told them being gay was bad and wrong. Aaron deals with it by making passive aggressive comments towards andreil and Nicky, Seth deals with it by making outright homophobic comments towards Nicky (the way a childhood in southern Alabama taught him)

so imagine the foxes surprise when Seth not only comes out of a coma but the closet too and sets of a chain reaction of Aaron revealing he’s also bi, followed by (to no one’s surprise) Kevin The Queen Day admitting he too is bi and they’re all dating

One of the root problems of our society is a refusal or inability by media to articulate that all those “it’s gonna be an apocalypse” disasters were not disasters because we collectively did something about them.

The good news is this is actually quite correctable. I maintain my firm belief that we as humans are capable of solving almost all of our problems, when we decide to do so.

And I still think that’s going to happen. I don’t know when or how, but I do know that abandoning hope won’t help bring it about.

And I refuse to let the cynics own a chunk of my heart.

what if I told you Jeremy doesn’t actually like sex? or, at least, not in the way people tend to imagine him based on what we see in the books. there are so many thoughts about Jeremy being a size king with an endless string of hookups (both of these are objectively true, but the problem is that this is the only thing the public notices), but it’s easy to forget that, for most of his life, sex wasn’t something he sought out because it brought him genuine happiness. more often than not, it was simply a coping mechanism, a way to silence his thoughts for a little while and distance himself from everything weighing on him. It was a means of escape, one that almost always left him with physical pain and emotional exhaustion once it was over. so what if I told you that when Jeremy finally ends up with Jean, sex naturally becomes part of their relationship, but it isn’t what he truly craves? what Jeremy longs for most isn’t sexual intimacy—it’s romantic intimacy. It’s Jean pressing a gentle kiss to his temple while they’re curled up together watching a movie. It’s the absentminded way their fingers drift together until Jean quietly laces them together, lifting Jeremy’s hand just enough to brush a kiss across his knuckles. It’s Jeremy running his fingers through Jean’s tousled hair while Jean lies with his head in Jeremy’s lap. If those moments eventually lead to sex, that’s simply an added bonus. but I can so easily picture the day Jeremy quietly asks Jean to stop before things become sexual, choosing instead to pull him close against his side, tangle their legs together beneath a blanket, and turn on some mindless reality show while he rests against the crown of Jean’s head, breathing in the scent that has slowly become his favorite place in the world. that’s the Jeremy I think Jean will come to know. not someone who’s 90% sex appeal and 10% flirtation, but someone for whom those things make up only a small fraction of who he truly is.
