And to say how blessed we are to have you sharing your art and fics with us!! The Elucien Wet T-shirt contest piece you just did was so fun!! I immediately went to scream into MB's dms about it, and now I'm here to scream into yours because you're the beautiful, talented person who shared it with us!! Lucien with a bun is something that is truly so special, especially when he's throwing water at Elain đĽľ
I got carried away, but thank you for your amazing creations and your beautiful presence! We're so lucky to have you here!
OMG thank you so much!! 𼰠I adore Lucien in a bun, or Lucien in anything. Or nothing. Lucien in nothing is preferable actually.
No because there was NO reason Elain NEEDED to speak up and interrupt Greyson to tell him her mateâs name. It was actually detrimental to what they were trying to accomplish to do it.
But then I think about that library scene and how we see Lucien introduce himself to Elain. âIâm Lucien. Seventh son of the High Lord of the Autumn Courtâ and a whole lot of nothing.
Lucien who always sees himself as his role and his relation to the others around him who hold more importance and power. Who thinks he has no other value than what others give him.
And idk understanding how much Lucien doesnât value himself makes Elain interrupting her fiancĂŠ (and great love) with âHis name is Lucienâ kind of hits differently. Like on some level she understands what plagues Lucien, even if she doesnât want to acknowledge or face it yet.
Just finished this project for one of my classes. It's mixed media, oil paint along with different fabrics and ribbons and what not to play around with textures. I'm not 100% happy with this, I didn't give myself the time I should have for it. I don't usually post my art. So please be kind. I will cry.
a lot of men that people online are obsessed with calling daddy are one 'good boy' away from shattering their knees on the ground forgetting their names and panting like dogs. it has to be said.
Me when I catch myself thinking "I wonder what it's like to be chosen by somebody" but then I remember my best friend chooses to be my best friend and my mutuals choose to follow me and the minimum wage employee chooses to give me sincere kindness that I remember years later because I was going through a hard time and it meant a lot
âLucien canât be with Elain because heâs sneaky and will probably betray the ICâ
Did you all not notice that Elain is sneaky too? Cassian noticed that sheâs lying about her whereabouts in SF. Sheâs frequently popping up out of nowhere and making excuses to leave.
Elain is sneaky as hell and Lucien and Elain will definitely be in cahoots together (if they arenât already).
The house across the street sits for sale for a while. Feyre gets to know the realtor while her husband is increasingly absent.
So, funny story about this one. The house across the street from me used to house a family, and then one day, they moved. Someone bought the house, and flipped it, and it has been sitting vacant because it's overpriced. That is all true. For some reason, I imagined the following scenario. This is a departure from what I've written before (kind of) but I managed to write this in a day. So, I suppose when inspiration strikes, I gotta follow it.
I hope you enjoy this greyer story.
Snippet below the cut. Read on AO3 :)
âLooks like the family across the street moved out,â Feyre murmured before bringing her mug of tea to her lips, grateful it was finally at her preferred temperature.
Her remark was met with a disinterested grunt from her husband who was engrossed in whatever sporting event was on that Sunday afternoon.
She continued gazing at the house across the street from her place at the window, imagining where the family had seemingly disappeared to.
She heard the groaning of furniture then, the sound of feet shuffling along the carpet atop the hardwood floors of their home, punctuated with a sigh. He stood next to her, looking out at their street and the house that up until yesterday was occupied by a family of five, now standing vacant, the belongings they couldnât shove into their minivan at the curb.
Another grunt from him before adding, âLeft a mess didnât they? Probably good they moved, they were a nuisance to begin with.â
Feyre fought a grimace at his words, the subtext loud and clear to her. She and Tamlin bought their home a year ago, a lovely cottage on the west side of town. Up and coming neighborhood, their realtor had praised.
Meaning: it had seen years of decline but the city had finally decided to start investing in it again, making it a hot bed for all-cash investors and flippers looking to strike while the iron was hot.
I have heard many nonsense criticisms of Lucien but non will baffle me more than those who say he is a coward.
Lucien âgot my eye torn out for standing against Amaranthaâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âdrew his sword against Rhysand and didnât back down despite his threatsâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âwas willing to be mind tortured by Rhysand rather than give up Feyreâs nameâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âshouted the direction of the Wyrm to Feyre, thus saving her lifeâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âsnuck around UTM to protect Feyre despite being torturedâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âfought off multiple Nagas on his own despite being knocked off his horse and injuredâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âstanding his ground and arguing with Tamlin about training Feyre till he was silenced and even then silently protestedâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âtook a squad of Sentries to Night to try and rescue Feyreâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âbreaking Hyburnâs enchantments to get to Elain and shield herâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âtracked down the Bogge with Feyre and led it to the twinsâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âoffered himself to the twins as a sacrifice to try and save Feyre and let her escapeâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âwent through a whole ass court where he was a wanted man who would be killed just to be able to check on Elain and rescue herâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âvolunteered to go on a suicide mission aloneâ Vanserra is a coward?
Lucien âfought his way across a battlefield to see if Elain was harmedâ Vanserra is a coward!?
Lucien âreturned to the court of a High Lord that physically abused him so he can help Feyre and Rhysandâ Vanserra is a coward!?
I hate to sound like a pontificating know-it-all, (and I know this has been mentioned before somewhere so forgive me for reiterating the point,) but referring to people as their preferred ship name (theyâre a feysand/elucien/elriel/gwynriel etc etc etc) only aids in the ability to dehumanize people, and serves to makes it easier to be a keyboard warrior and mentally excuse yourself of bullying behaviour.
We learn something called âpatient-firstâ language in medicine. Weâre told not to refer to people as âthe broken ankleâ âthe depressed insomniacâ âthat triple by-pass with heart failureâ etc because it quite literally dehumanizes people, and reduces them down to their illness/medical problem.
Instead we try to say âthe person with a broken ankleâ âthe young mother with depression and insomniaâ etc. This language puts the patient (person) first, and reminds everyone that before their injury/issue, theyâre a real live human being with thoughts, feelings, emotions, family, a past, a present, a future, just like you.
I believe fandom could really do with some more people-first language. âOh they like [ship name]â instead of âthat [ship name]â Itâs easy to be lazy and just refer to people by their preferred ship, but so is calling someone âthe broken ankle,â and itâs an unconscious decoupling of someone with their shared humanity with you that you have to work to unlearn.
I really encourage you to do the work on changing your mental language, not just about yourself and your identity within fandom, but about other people, especially those you might disagree with.
one thing i love about elain is how when she killed the king of Hybern she didnât do it for revenge or bloodlust (even tho that would have been justified!!!!), she only did it to protect nestaâŚ.,,,,.And afterwards, she couldnât leave the scene fast enough and denied that sheâd even made the killing blow and somehow found flowers to place on her fathers corpse she is so brave and sweet i lovebher
another thing i love about elain is that when feyre told her family that faeries killed the beddors and they ought to hire guards, instead of falling into a panic or wringing her hands as tamlinâs glamour broke, elain made herself busy preparing a horse and supplies for feyre. and then by the next book elain was coincidentally engaged to the local faerie hunterâs son. and then the wall fell, and elain just so happened to toss out the totally random and unprompted and not at all premeditated idea that they ought to ask that same faerie hunter to take mortal refugees into his fortified keep
It's Rhysand telling and taunting Feyre that the torture Lucien received at the hands of Amarantha/Tamlin probably broke his spirit and not to expect him to come to her defense anymore....
only for Lucien to show back up at her cell the literal moment he could move around, while still obviously in pain, with a fucking cloak to help her stay warm and protect her dignity, making promises to her that he would find a way to break her bargain with Rhysand.
The balls on Lucien Vanserra.
