chucky show is perhaps the greatest whiplash in media form because who precisely is the target audience. scene 1 of an episode a group of 13 year old children ride around on their bicycles and hold hands and deliver my little pony messages about friendship. next scene 2 grown adult women have freaky kinky murder sex and domestically abuse each other

I love love LOVE. the chucky television show with a fiery passion and yes. I absolutely agree. I think it’s pretty in line with the films, since as a collection, they’re tonally all over the place too. I guess that’s the core of the problem- we’re carrying storylines from the dark, fear inducing first trilogy (not that I particularly enjoy child’s play 3, but still), the campy, insane circus that was bride & sees of Chucky, and the eerie curse & cult of Chucky.

Crazy shit happens throughout the franchise but I think we as a fandom also have to realize that the franchise is so old that we have seen the development of horror trends in real time, with the unreal and unusual scariness of the first three, and then we get campy and meta bc it’s the 90s and scream is everything to everyone in the horror scene, and psychological, desaturated horror films that we saw in the 2010s.

Again, I love the Chucky show, but the problem with adapting and taking stuff from all of these sub-genres and time periods in horror is that all together they’re a mess. They make no sense, I really believe that for this (and for many other reasons) the Chucky show was lowkey doomed to fail- stemming from Don Mancini just not really knowing when to stop creating Chucky content. The show could’ve and honesty SHOULD HAVE ended at s2 because it was a great wrap up for all of the characters.

It’s offically been 1 year since I saw & Juliet!

This show has meant the world to me for a year. It gave me the courage to accept myself and to come out as non-binary to my friends. This show has given me May, one of my favorite characters of all time, has given me joy & the confidence I needed to be myself. I don’t think a show has had such a profound impact on me since I first listened to Parade.

This show gave me Dromio S, and has me and one of my best friends, @yourboywitch , making ocs together which is always hype as fuck (I say that as if we don’t always make ocs together)

And, of course, it’s given me the & Juliet community!! It is 7:00 am where I am rn so I don’t think I can remember everybody to list them but I love you all and the experience I’ve had in this fandom 💜💜 you all rock

This caught me by surprise but today’s my one year anniversary of the first time I watched & Juliet!

This show has been everything to me for the past 365 days. It doesn’t feel so long ago that I was taking the subway and listening to the soundtrack for the first time, but here we are. If it hadn’t been for this show, I never would’ve made so many amazing friends on here *takes deep breath* @writingnotes520 @thenepticmancer @kittycatsfromzolar @montygatorguy @swanny-draws @livieloulou @pixcmint & @pillow-chicken I love all of you and I’m so glad that this show brought me to all of you. The friendships I’ve made over the past year are some of my absolute favorites and I’m so so grateful for each and every one of you.

& Juliet also brought me into a wonderful world of cosplay and performance that I’ve never seen before. (Kudos to @graymatterwithacomplex for being the cashier to my Shakespeare and for putting up with my obsession <3 love ya). When I finally get to do “Problem/Can’t Feel My Face” bitches you KNOW imma be posting it!

Without & Juliet I never would’ve gotten back into writing. Without the constant support from Ver’s story; the love I got from As I Grow Up Without You, I Miss It, I Miss You; and Come What May; I don’t know what would’ve fueled me through the worst days. I started CWM whilst in the trenches of the worst mental health and it not only pulled me out of said trenches it also
