Days 4 - 11
Holy moly! It’s day 11. This has been tough, but sooooo satisfying . I love the willpower that has come with this challenge. The ability to say no. The strength to walk away. I believe 100% that I treat food like a drug, especially sugar and bread.
Now I have been far from perfect. I went to a party this weekend where I creepily ate a plain hamburger in the corner without the bun or any condiments, talk about bland, but I was starving. I had a splash of vodka with my lemon water. The real trouble came when I was invited to dinner at a relatives, they were very thoughtful with my challenge and made most of the food detox friendly. Except for the little bit of couscous, greek yogurt in the dressing and honey on the sweet potatoes, but overall if that’s considered a cheat, it was delicious. However...that 1/4 cup of couscous (gluten, evil gluten) was NOT worth it. Within 30 minutes my stomach began to bloat, I could literally feel it growing. Then the stomach pains hit. I wanted to roll up in a ball and cry. Nine days of hard work down the drain I thought. The next morning, still feeling bloated, I got on the scale and was up 2lbs from my intial -6lb loss. I wanted to cry.
Good news though. I could have treated this like a set back and devoured EVERYTHING in sight ( I wanted to) But, I chose to just get back on track. Shakes, clean eating, shakes, repeat. I’m happy to report, I’m back down to what I weighed the morning of my gluttony. In 11 days, I have lost 6lbs. TMI, but as a woman, during this monthly time, I still lost. I usually gain 2-3lbs during this week, I didn’t. I usually have insane painful cramps, I didn’t.
All in all, I’m grateful for this cleanse. I am sleeping better, breathing better, and making MUCH better choices. I’ll be real though, I’ve been dreaming about food: pizza, sugar, and carbs. That’ll be the only place I’m devouring them, for now.
Here is to the next 6lbs!
