2023 was a long year…

2023 was a packed year for us: between wrapping up university, starting day jobs, and a fraught custody case, we've been barely able to stay on top of things. 2024 is looking to be a much calmer year (fingers crossed), and we hope that means we can bring you more selection in the near future!

I'd like to apologize for the delay in getting Collected Narratives out to people who've ordered, as the financial situation has been strained due to life conditions, but our ETA is confidently looking like mid-February. I hope that the book is worth the wait in the end!

Additionally, we have Alex Zandra's newest book: Cat Wishes Stories, available in physical copies. This is currently limited stock; we only have a few available and are unsure when we'll be able to acquire more, so if you want one: now's the time to get it!

Lastly, we have book bundles now. If you buy a whole series together, like Constelis Voss or The Locked Tomb, you can receive a discount on your purchase!

Unfortunately, PayPal has decided that our store is out of line of their policies, and has revoked our access to their services with no process for appeals. While this isn't unheard of from PayPal, it is nonetheless disappointing and extremely disheartening for the shop. Half of our domestic transactions and almost all of our international transactions go through PayPal, largely due to the ease and convenience of it. Without it, it is very likely that shop revenue will drop and we won't be able to provide books to as many customers.

This is the consequence of laws that claim to protect but are only there to restrict. Queerness is declared inherently sexual, inherently inappropriate, and removed from the public space accordingly.

We will continue to operate our business as best as we are able to, and thank all of the folks who've supported us thus far. It is, fortunately and unfortunately, just another hurdle to overcome in making this dream a reality.

Been a bit since we last posted (2023 has been way too hectic) but we do have an exciting announcement in the form of Alex's latest book! Hard on the heels of Confluence, it's Queer for the New Year! a number of us queer authors contributed to this Balance of Seven anthology, including yours truly.

Once you've read Confluence, check out my story "Hatsumōde," which is in this anthology! It's a postlude to the novel, set a few days after the events of the epilogue, and the big New Year's festivities in Japan that center on shrines and temples. River and Kasu's lives are changing, in "Hatsumōde," and as they make the rounds of both their shrines, they try to imagine new ways of carrying themselves and finding empowerment, at the start of a year that promises to bring many changes.

In the latest pre-order to be offered, we are now selling Balance of Seven's end-of-the-year release, Queer For the New Year!
