This is a blog about cake and music. You should know that everything I know of blogging I've learned from fashion blogs. I don't know where I'll be in a year but the dream is a kitchen with stereos and friends that come over for cookies/pie/pancakes. I like magazines, tea, melancholy music, going to concerts, the rare species of good romantic comedies. var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-2753950-4']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();

In Finland, you usually get to choose whether you'd like your semla with almond paste or jam. I've always been a jam girl but this year I decided to fill my semlor with raspberry jam AND homemade almond paste. So good!
P.s. reblogging the picture from a new blog where me and my friend Sini post pictures of food that we've cooked using our favorite Finnish food blogger's recipes (we're both kind of obsessed with her).
There have been some rumours about it recently, but apparently it’s been confirmed: Beach House will release a new album in 2012. It will be titled Bloom and counts 10 tracks - expectations are obviously very high since their magical Teen Dream. Bloom is out on May 15 via Sub Pop, you can find the tracklist below. Suggest you start building a stock of tissues already.

Here is a brand new video from Burning Hearts for this gentle tuesday! I couldn’t be more pleased with their amazing new record and I’m doubly excited that they’ve now made a video for my favorite song off of it! Fall in love.
Again, if you haven’t yet, grab ‘Extinctions’ from Shelflife!
Blah, just went to a party that wasn't today. It's March 17.
Maybe drinking the remaining glögg (more commonly served around Christmas) and baking some Runeberg's tortes (traditionally eaten in Finland on February 5) would cheer me up?
I took Grandma to Chaikhana when she visited Stockholm two weeks ago. We had French Afternoon Tea for lunch. The chocolate mousse cake in the picture was served as dessert after delicious sandwhiches and brioche with jam, cheese and butter. I can warmly recommend both the English and the French afternoon tea at Chaikhana - just keep in mind that it's no coffeeshop: everything there takes time! Another reason to visit Chaikhana is buying tea. As far as I know, they are the only store in Stockholm carrying Mariages Frères teas. Stock up on classic blends such as Marco Polo or Earl Grey French Blue!
Jaakko Eino Kalevi is his own man. A tram driver, a model and above all a very multi-talented musician that doesn’t follow anyone else. It’s electro, jazz, lo-fi, dub, disco, funk and everything in between! He calls it world music though, so that should cover all angles in some way.
Not sure if he does those two first professions mentioned anymore since his underground fame seems to be growing outside the borders of Finland. He also seems to be releasing stuff all the time!
He has his own label called JEKS Viihde and through that he had at least four releases last year with his own music, at least two of them on compact cassette. Check out his releases here.
This song called Chamber of Love seems very recent and I can’t find it on any of the earlier releases. Maybe it will turn up on some coming…thing. Can’t really predict what this guy will do next, and that’s a good thing.
Ha, this is one of the songs Jaakko Eino Kalevi played at MOI! Stockholm in October. I remember him introducing this song by saying that it was based on a news article about some Swedish guy that had a sex torture chamber of love in his house.
