In early screenshots of Marble Zone in Sonic 1, the level was depicted as having UFOs in the sky. In a short background clip of Wayne’s World, we can see that they would also animate.

While these objects are no longer found in the game’s code, it has become a favourite easter egg of the Sonic community. In the Sonic 1 mobile remake you can place a recreated object in debug mode, and Sonic Mania’s Studiopolis Zone makes reference to it in this street light.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, a Yoshi complains about not being able to sit in the chairs at the Yoshi Theater. However, both the ending and a piece of official art show Yoshis sitting in the seats. This discrepancy is never explained.
