Hi everyone!  Welcome to Tabletop Gay-Ventures!

My name is Asunder and I’ve decided to start a blog about the various tabletop roleplaying games I’ve collected over the years.  I need to share this with anyone and everyone I can.  My overall goal for this page is to share what I know, share opinions, reviews and homebrew.  I want to expand people’s tabletop experiences and expand mine as well.  I might even talk about other things, like board games or books, or start a youtube channel.  

This page will not focus on any edition of Dungeons and Dragons or on Pathfinder 2nd Edition.  There are a lot of people who talk about D&D and also good folks who talk about Pathfinder.  I want to bring attention to smaller ttrpgs that might be overlooked.  Might do Call of Cthulhu, Anima, Overlight, Glitter Hearts, or something else!  I have over 100 games and I’m planning to get even more!  

I plan to go over each game’s system, setting, overall rules, player options, referee options, design/aesthetic, my opinions,  safety tools, and homebrew ideas.  Some of these games will be complicated, some will be simple, some won’t even have a game master.  Let’s find out which is which together!

Every queer transphobe and racist is a fucking traitor.

I love my community, I love the queer community, I love how uplifting and strong we are. But oh my fucking god can people be racist as hell and so exclusive at times. Our community is strong because of the poc in it, it is stronger because of trans people.

We are supposed to love and support eachother, none of this “LGB without the T” bullshit. Guess who threw that first brick. Marsha P fucking Johnson, a Black Trans Woman and activist. So honestly, fuck you. LGBTQIA+ welcomes everyone, unless you’re a bigot. You cannot say you’re apart of a loving accepting community when you actively hate the founding and important parts of it. Yeah everyone’s entitled to their own opinions, but your not really “entitled” to that when said opinion is thinking that someone isn’t worthy because of their race, that people are sinful because of their gender, that people deserve to die because of who they fucking are.

All these industries with shortages of workers and they can’t figure out why.

Im proposing the hypothesis that the reason we don’t have enough doctors/pilots/bus drivers/etc is that maybe, just maybe, having your entire industry function as a lifelong hazing ritual isn’t the best recruiting strategy.

Doctors are subject to 8 years of post-secondary education and are forced to work 48 hour shifts.

Pilots and other transportation workers have absurd hours of service requirements that start your rest period as “the moment you shut the vehicle down” and can be as short as 9 hours in some cases.

Railroad workers have to be available on-call 6 days a week and be ready within two hours notice. They don’t get sick time.

Retail workers have to keep a veneer of politeness against any and all abuse or they can be fired.

Truck drivers get paid by mileage and rarely see pay for shipper or receiver delays.

Work should not be designed to make you a miserable burnout and yet here we are.

Post game post: Starfinder

My players did the next part of their tournament which was the skill challenge for the Mystic player. I should have planned a few things ahead of time and let the rest of the group know that they had the opportunity to play as alternate versions of themselves in the Mystic's subconscious but we all still had a lot of fun with it.

After that they readied themselves for the final bout of the day. This one involved fighting with weapons and items the players haven't used before. I made 19 different items and let each player pick three. I'm not going to tell yall what they do yet, some of my players follow or sometimes check this blog out. I'll tell all of you the item's effects after they're done with the bout but this is how I presented the items:

A long sword with "777" on the guard

An axe with two arrows pointing in opposite directions

A curved wand

A necklace

A golden pistol

A live tuna fish outside of water

A rifle

A deflated balloon

A ballpoint pen

A picture of Dustin Hoffman

A tennis ball

A scroll

An egg

A single strand of spaghetti

A can of soup

A medkit full of thoughts and prayers

A whip

A circlet with an owl on the front

A sharp spear

One of these items is completely USELESS I'll let you all guess which one...

The answer to "How did these Ancient People do this????" is basically always

1. A lot of dudes. Just a ton of fucking people from beginning to end of the process.

2. Ancient people weren't stupid, they just figured shit out the same way we do: fuck around until you find out.

3. We're gonna plan this out and it's gonna take ten fucking years, and you will cope.

4. Sticks and string are surprisingly versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes, like moving stuff and making sure things are even and go in the spot you wanted to put them in!

5. I want to make this easier and more efficient to move. If I put this on the round thing and push, it will move. If I put this in water, it will move. If I get some animals and rope and have a whole bunch of them drag it, it will move. All of these things are a better option than one guy trying to pick the whole fucking thing up.

Thoughts on my first Tarzan rewatch since I was a kid:

• Golly gee, I did not remember that both Kerchak and Kala’s very young son AND Tarzan’s parents get mauled by a leopard, it happens within the first ten minutes, and you actually SEE his parents’ bodies. Modern Disney would NEVER

• Also remember when Disney actually animated really good fight scenes, they had nail-biting tangible stakes, and they actually showed blood??? Remember when they weren’t cowards????

• REMEMBER WHEN TARZAN KILLED THE LEOPARD TRYING TO PROVE HIMSELF TO HIS ADOPTIVE FATHER HAVING NO IDEA THAT HE WAS AVENGING HIS BIOLOGICAL FATHER (AND MOTHER). REMEMBER THAT

• It’s been said before, but the effort put into the physicality of Tarzan is just top-tier—especially later into the film where he starts to mix his gorilla and learned human mannerisms. There is so much detail here and it’s fascinating

• Also, the times where they chose to make the gorilla conversations understandable to the audience or make them sound like gorillas (aka switch to Jane’s pov) is SO fascinating and does wonders for building up the “two worlds” dichotomy.

• Jane’s crush on Tarzan is SO obvious and honestly comes on so suddenly, she is delulu for days, but honestly I cannae blame her, if *I* was saved by a strong handsome wild man who couldn’t understand me but stared deeply into my eyes as if he could see my soul through them as he pressed the palms of our hands together, I’d probably fold too

• My favorite character was Tantor the elephant. WHAT a character arc, I was so proud of him

• Hey uhhhhhhhh remember how the villain of this movie died by inadvertently hanging himself and the movie indicated this by showing his dangling silhouette in a flash of lightning??? HELLO???

• Y’all like to give Ariel a hard time for giving up her voice for a man when Jane Porter permanently and irrevocably left civilized society to run away to the wilds of Africa to live with gorillas for a man she met a week or two ago who she’s still getting over language barrier issues with. I’m not saying she shouldn’t have done so, I completely support her decision, but I feel like if this movie weren’t so slept on some of y’all would have a lot more to say about it.

• In general Jane is a bit more unhinged than we give her credit for, and more power to her. She’s rapidly climbing the ranks of my favorite Disney princesses.

• And then her father joins her??? “People go missing all the time”???? LOL

• Finally, it’s been said before, but: Phil Collins, you legend. You did not have to go that hard on this film, but you did and we appreciate it so much

Map #3

Three weeks in a row of hitting my goal of at least one map per week! If I can keep up this pace I really think I can improve my skills a lot. For this map I decided to try a slightly different style for the doors. I think it makes the map a little easier to understand visually, so I will probably keep doing this style of doors in future maps. I hope you all enjoy this map, and please stop on by a week from now for map #4. :)
