What the batfam does with a pen in hand:
Bruce: automatically signs something. It could be a paper. A post-it. Some child's forehead. His signature is the default word.
Dick: pen moustache. No further comments.
Jason: pen twiddler. pen flipper. does all the classic tricks. also doodles in the margin of books, commentary on what the characters are doing ("does this fuckwit have a brain?") and whether or not he could call this writing good ("that is NOT how we describe a person bleeding out"). I'm certain he could be a sensitivity reader for the crime genre.
Timmy: pen twiddler pen flipper BUT he knows the elaborate tricks. the ones where you wonder where the pen has gone before it flashes before your eyes and disappears the next second. he knows magic in this way. otherwise he does no writing, I think he's the kid who doesn't take notes then does phenomenal on the next test.
Damian: holds the pen out of boredom. Maybe he'll take it apart, or he wont. Depends on how entertained he is by the critique he's giving the teacher. I'm not sure you'll ever see notes from him.
Cass: surprisingly makes a lot of notes? Her notes are detailed, if a little messy in some places. I think she likes the feel or writing. She has a small pencil case with only pens she realllyyyyyy likes the feel of.
Steph: clean notes where shes wants to focus, but otherwise it's a mess of scribbles and doodles and margin-messaging with her deskmate. She has experience with all manner of stains. The pen is lost after first use, she borrows a lot of them.
Duke: pretty organised notes, his pencil case is non existent, the pen comes from anywhere - a back pocket, the hood of his hoodie, his sleeve, your sleeve, who knows. But he takes care of his pens, methinks. Likes the colourful stuff.
