#10km run

I was not sure how today's run would go, it was pretty chilly out there. We started the day on -1.1ºC so I did not rush to get out the door. I have been sick all week pretty much so I headed out with a plan to run 5km and if I was feeling ok carry on and do 10km. The run went to plan, I got my 10km done and the sun came out.

Hey y’all! Happy Turkey Trot day! Also I ran my first race ever. First time signing up for one post high school, first time racing a 10k!

It was a great experience, being around people all doing the same thing, whether they wanted to or not lol. If I’m being honest with myself I wish I went harder to go sub 1-hour but there will be plenty of more races in my future. Course was pretty, but at some points it was pretty tight. I mean I was fine because I wasn’t going for a specific place, but IF I did want to past people during those times I’d basically be pushing them out of the way, which wasn’t the vibe.

Also I was hoping to meet some runners but I quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen. Everyone came with their family, stayed with them, and left. Which isn’t surprising given the holiday. Just felt a little lonely being the only one without someone else there.

Race done, can’t wait for the next one

New pb!

Over the last few weeks I’ve felt terrible during my runs, my legs resembled bricks and I wanted to quit just after 5 minutes. BUT I guess I needed that experience to understand that even though not every run will be great, they still count regardless. And even though it’s hard to push through and stay motivated, it’s all worth it in the end, trust me! After a really slow 5k run on Tuesday, I managed to run my best 10k ever (pace 5′28′’) ! Wasn’t even planning on it but everything just kinda fell into place today. 

Don’t let a few slow weeks discourage you 💪🏼

I was a bit worried about todays run but there was no need. My face was fine so I ran 10km so I could get a badge. I ran over one hill and around the rest. I ran into the forest to stay out of the wind as it did cause a little discomfort. I stopped at the park on the way home to watch some touch rugby games. When I got home I checked out the new butterflies and grabbed some spinach from the vege garden for a smoothie. Think I might need to build up my iron levels a bit.

After a nice leisurely breakfast and a very successful Wordle I headed out for my birthday run. I have a race next week so have done my prep and just wanted to run today. We had a lot of rain last night and there was a strong wind blowing. I decided to do 10km around the streets instead of splashing through the forest today. Not sure if it was the right choice. I did however managed to bring it in under an hour so I am happy with that.

Running Dump.

Still down, it’s whatever. Still been running. Decided to start doing speed workouts again. Did two last week since I can’t lift with my thumb injury. Felt nice to run fast again. Did an easy run yesterday to prepare for my long run today. It went well. New record for me as far as distance and time goes. Treated myself to some food around the park. Not pictured, shallowed whole.

I want to be transparent about why I’ve been so down but I’m also embarrassed. Still down. Whatever

Running dump. Had a speed run on Halloween that I forgot about. Recovery run yesterday but I think I took it too fast. Had a long run today, boy was it long. Still focusing on heart rate but when it tells me I’m under or over I try not to listen too hard. As long as I can breath in through my nose for four and out my month for four, it’s been a pretty good indicator of my “easy” effort.

Even when I run with Apple Health I still long the runs on NRC. I ran 36.1 miles last month. Goal this month is to run more consistently which will surely raise that number.
