Serious question: Why do a lot of people seem to have a beef with the portrayal of Splinter in 2018 version? Like yeah I know Asians used to be compared to rats (or it was used as a slur, I can't remember) but he was a rat in multiple versions and I've never seen people talking about it so much?

I dont have any specific character across all iterations

But I would have to say 18 Splinter.

I know that his character was to show like childhood trauma affecting adult but something about donnie line that is something like " my first positive reinforcement from a parent-aged adult"

Like just the idea that Donatello who is in all iterations incredibly smart not getting any kind of positive reinforcement from splinter till he is like 15/16 it just makes me incredibly sad, and then the first time there is father son binding between them Splinter is actually just using his talent to win a game, not because he wants to spend time with his son after realalizing that he has been brutally absent.

I may be wrong about how I am looking at 18 Splinter so feel free to tell me why he is a good dad if yall want
