Fandoms in Review 2025 by Top Songs in My Spotify Wrapped
#1: "Hymn to Virgil" by Hozier: Jayce/Viktor (Arcane)
“I would burn the world to bring some heat to you.”
I love a couple that is 100% not normal about each other. Their devotion dooms the world and saves it. Other tracks for this ship include “Two” by Sleeping at Last (#38) and “Peace” by Taylor Swift (#39),
#3: “Breathe” by Dom Fera: Renarin Kholin (The Stormlight Archive)
Still the Renarin Kholin song of all time in my eyes. Catch me belting the "I'm not brave" section in my car at the top of my lungs at all times. “You Are Enough” by Sleeping at Last also came in at #33 and “Fish in a Birdcage” came in at #97.
#5: “Chasing the Sun” by Sara Bareilles: Thara Celehar (The Witness for the Dead by Katherine Addison)
“It’s a really old city, stuck between the dead and the living/ So I thought to myself, sitting on a graveyard shelf”
How many songs are there about wandering around cemeteries? Not a lot! But this one goes out to my precious guy who talks to dead people (go read it). “Cabo” by Ricky Montgomery (#17), an excellent song about illicit affairs, also goes out to my blorbo.
#6: "Sight of the Sun" by fun.: Szeth (Stormlight Archive (again))
“For once, there is nothing up my sleeve/ Just some scars from a life that used to trouble me/ I used to run at first sight of the Sun/ Now I lay here waiting for you to wake up.”
Wind and Truth Spoilers! This song feels so much like what Szeth gets at the end of book 5. A quiet retirement and a wife. (bonus points for the line about nothing up his sleeve because he literally loses an arm)
#7: “Hercules” by Sara Bareilles: Conclave
Songs about having an existential crisis and wanting strength to fight? Yeah that’s it that’s the movie. Great movie.
#14: “Roses” by the Band CAMINO: Adam Hochberg/Henri Baurel (An American in Paris)
One of these years I will finish my fake engagement masterwork about these two. This was not that year. But I really love my playlist for these two, including “Wake Up” by Run River North (#16), “The Longest Time” by Billy Joel (#45), and “Head Over Feet” by Alanis Morissette (#88)
#60: “Wild Blue Yonder” by The Amazing Devil: The Witcher
Is this song necessarily about characters? No but Joey Batey’s music duo absolutely slaps. And I liked The Witcher a lot.
Happy New Year! Can't wait for new media obsessions in 2026.
I've got beginner's luck 'cause the first time that I'm in love I'm in love with you. Gosh, I'm lucky!...
oh. oh shit. in the dressing room scene before stairway to paradise. when adam is yelling about how lise deserves "real passion" and "real happiness" henri gets so defensive and says "i don't know what you're implying but if y-" before adam cuts him off again.
and like. oh yeah. henri's incredibly fucken insecure about his queerness. the implication that he can't provide lise with real love is a threat on his supposed heterosexuality. that's his internalized homophobia acting out. no wonder he gets insecure at that. ouhg. oh god.
the jatp fandoms on instagram is giving us such a bad reputation :( it really sucks🥺
I think I know what you’re referring to, even though there are different instances I see on IG that could have led you to this particular ask...
I think I saw someone answering an ask regarding to the JATP fandom on Instagram and spamming every post they make with pleas to renew the series.
While amusing and endearing that was at first to see every post be bombarded with JATP-related comments, you might be talking about the particular instance of the IG fantoms spamming the comment section of a post that referenced the rampant amount of violent hate crimes made against Asian Americans as of lately.
(Well, I, as an Asian American, would like to argue that it’s been a long reoccurring issue that’s finally getting addressed).
Although I have my own opinions of companies tweeting/posting statements of support and unity when it comes to racial injustice, I think it’s completely insensitive for the Fantoms of IG to disregard the message and comment about S2 renewals.
I would want a S2 too! Like so bad! But there is a time and place to be making comments like that. Yes, it is to show strong fan engagement even after all this time, but it’s not like the renewal is hinged on that kind of activity. I have seen really good shows with active audiences but still get canceled by Netflix.
It really is out of our hands right now, but we should show our appreciation and our interest in S2 on IG in other ways.
For a while I saw people making S2 Renewal Posters, and some of our very talented fanartists participate in drawing Princess Julie, with dresses adapted from her outfits on the show. There are also song covers, edits, cosplay-
Like so many other ways that you could show your Phantom love that doesn’t diminish the voices of the marginalized.
(Also would like to note that this must be done respectfully too. I’ve seen instances where Flynn/Jadah and Julie/Madi fan art erasing their notably darker skin tones. Please don’t whitewash them. Thanks)
And speaking of redirecting your energies on Instagram and putting it to good use, I would like to implore those who read this to look into/ research all the different ways you could help your local AAIP community at this time.
Currently the Bay Area, Oakland Chinatown in particular, is leading a community-based effort to protect the elderly and other vulnerable peoples. @oakchinatowncoalition on IG is where I’ve been getting information on how to help.
Thanks.
@projectbway event 02 : adaptations — AN AMERICAN IN PARIS ↳ based on the 1951 film starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron
— love, true love, is all that matters. duty and honor? forget it. love? love is even more important than art.
I don't know how more people aren’t on this movie, but holy hell. This is the kind of queer movie you wanted when you were 16, with an Asian protagonist. Kind of a modern take on Cyrano de Bergerac. The whole movie just has this sad longing feeling to it, like listening to a record in your bedroom on a rainy day. The characters are nuanced, funny, and flawed- and you’re going to fall in love with all of them. While it does fall into many of the tropes of a teen high school movie, it then subverts them. And while I wouldn't classify the ending as Disney ride off into the sunset, it’s very satisfying. I haven't seen a movie in a long time that made me cry, laugh, and briefly for a second wish I was 17 again.
Also of note: It was written and Directed by Alice Wu, an Asian lesbian.
( it’s on netflix, and under two hours. Just watch it, you’ll be glad you did.)

Unacceptable. We need to keep our AAIP and BIPOC communities safe. Let’s do better, let’s be better.
