i propose new terms: acebaiting, arobaiting, and aspecbaiting. for when a character is heavily aspec coded or implied and then they get a relationship in canon anyway.
My favourite webcomic strongly implied it's main character is aroace in the last fifty chapters. I was so happy to finally have good representation, but in the latest chapter he suddenly declares he loves his sidekick. I feel so betrayed. It doesn't make sense! He never showed any interest in his new boyfriend until now! I can't even complain in the comments or other fans will say I'm homophobic.
