It’s crazy how many people just don’t understand why a lot of aro and or ace people don’t like that Alaster gets shipped. It’s not that hard to understand we don’t have a lot to let ourselves lose. I mean can you name 10 asexual characters? 5? Can you name two aro characters. There’s the guy from Archie who they made have a sex scene in a movie version. There’s a few books. I think a background character in Heartstopper? Do you see the theme here??? You’re all queer people, do you not get it? How it feels to have nothing? Is it so wrong to be upset that there’s finally an outwardly aroace person in popular media and instead of people embracing that they’re fighting on the internet about why it’s ok to ignore it? And I will never in my fucking life have anything against the people who are aro and or ace and portray him in THEIR experiences, even if it is a romance or sex favorable experience, but it is obvious that way too many of you guys are allo and it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t even like him as a character that much, he isn’t even made by an aroace artist. The show isn’t even that fucking good, I just want to keep someone like me for once in my life. If there were a million other aroace characters I wouldn’t care, but it just hurts seeing erasure coming from my own community. It just sucks, man, I don’t know. It just sucks

Character: - is Aro Ace - Person 1: In my headcanon they're gay/lesbian so they're gonna have sex Person 2: Being Ace doesn't mean they're automatically sex-repulsed so I'll draw them having sex Person 3: I don't fucking care and will draw them having sex Person 4: Yeah they're Aro but that character is special so they'll have feelings for them anyway I mean, I understand people can ship whoever they want and it's all for fun. But when 90% of a fandom draw the only Aro / Ace character of a serie in a romantic and/or sexual relationship because *insert whatever reason*, at some point just admit it's Aro/Ace erasure...

It’s not even about Yelena.

It’s what allos’ eagerness to erase her identity (with fanworks but far more importantly with a PETITION) says about what they really think about aspec identities.

We can exist as long as we’re invisible. As long as we don’t have rep who isn’t a side character no one cares about. As long as we can pass as allos—“aros and aces can want romance and sex!”

So basically we can exist as long as we don’t fight the status quo, as long as (some) allo people don’t have to look at themselves and confront their amatonormativity.

Just a heads up.

“It’s a different universe” is not a valid reason to erase Yelena’s sexuality when discussing the MCU.

You would never stand for a lesbian or a gay character being made straight because “it’s a different universe”, so you don’t get to say it’s fine for an aroace character. (

It really feels like you don’t care about Yelena, you just care about your ship. 🤷🏼‍♀️
