adhd stigma and misunderstanding and oppression is rooted in the assumption that we have volitional control over our symptoms.
we don’t and that’s why it’s a diagnosable condition

ADD Diary Day#1 Entry #3
So it’s about an hour after my meds have started/are/have worn/wearing off and there is definitely a noticeable difference. Could be because of or amplified by my period, but I’ve noticed a negative change in mood and attitude.
I’ve been relatively calm and happy all day and the past hour or so, I’ve been ridiculously hungry and dinner was like two hours late and I’ve been getting more and more hangry and sensitive. And I am already having trouble focusing. And I’ve started getting a headache since it started wearing off.
So basically, I already like my meds.
Diary of ADD Meds/Day#1
About three hours after taking my first dose ever (Along with birth control, 10 milligrams of Vyvanse I feel calmer. I’m starting to think clearer and I don’t have the urge to do tons of things at the same time. Even with this low a dose I feel better. I feel like I can breathe without feeling like paying attention to every distraction. It’s such a low dose that of course it’s not fixing everything but it helps. Stigma against taking medication is ridiculous. I already feel better and it’s the first day.
