SHOUTOUT
to the people who grew up with undiagnosed adhd and were called liars or idiots when they forgot things frequently, constantly were told to "stop twitching" or "stop bouncing your leg" when you physically, literally, could not stop yourself, frequently fell behind in school work because you were completely unable to focus on your work, even when you had "no distractions" ("it works for everyone else, why not you?"), got in trouble for impulsively lashing out at teachers and other students in a haze of frustration and embarrassment that you simply Could Not understand, and having your mental issues repressed because you were told it didn't exist? how's that neurodivergency, paganism, and queerness working out for y'all?
Lmao I’m lucky if I can fall asleep in 20 minutes most nights. 🤣
CW: meds, sleep deprivation and appetite issues
Fuck. I thought I was starting to figure out how to get on top of this and work towards sorting my sleep out, but it's 8.30am and I still haven't slept. I feel weird, like emotional but I don't know why and not in a way I've felt like before. Could be the lack of sleep and eating tbh.
I feel like I've gone backwards. Knowing I have ADHD is so incredible. I have an understanding of why I am the way I am, and I've started to unpick some of the habits I've developed that are unhealthy for me. But now I've had to come off the sleep meds because of headaches, I feel like I'm worse than before. I feel like I'm taking my stimulant meds to literally just get up, and exist in a way I was doing okay with before, rather than them helping me. And then the side effects of loss of appetite and dry mouth are getting to me quite a lot now. Are the side effects worth it? But how can I know if they are worth it if I'm not eating or sleeping properly? Because that will be affecting the effectiveness of the meds...🤦♂️
So I’m in class right now for my reading endorsement, we were assigned a short bit to read out of our text book Teaching Reading Source book. The section is on the brain and reading. I just read the following “the frontal lobe controls speech, reasoning, planning, regulating emotions, and consciousness.”
As a person with ADHD I’m always interested in what the frontal lobe does cause that section of my brain is...ya know, goofy. Knowing that my goofy frontal lobe controls my speech, emotions, and consciousness is probably why I ramble and ramble, why I can’t help it when I get extremely emotional at times, and why sometimes I feel like I don’t exist, or exist outside of the real world and sometimes feel more real when engrossed in a story.
I need some validation reblog if you believe in ADHD whether you have it or not
I JUST realized that these are ads paid for by pharmaceutical companies that sell ADHD drugs. It’s not like a helpful quiz for fun. They exaggerate symptomology to sell drugs. I can’t believe this never occurred to me.
Guys I need your help. Did they ever make twilight Christmas cards? My brother and I are in a competition to send each other the worst Christmas cards we can find each year and I need something that will top the amazing card I got him this past year and I think this might be the only thing that can do it
