Fly safe - a wolfstar microfic
@wolfstarmicrofic - September 7: Quidditch Lockerroom - Words: 228
The last Quidditch game had been only a couple of weeks ago, but to Sirius it felt like in a different life. He dared a glance to where Remus sat, eating his scrambled eggs and sausages in stubborn silence, like he’d done ever since that fateful night.
Sirius was glad James blabbered on about tactics and how they would crush the Ravenclaws today. Sirius didn’t muster the enthusiasm, but faked it as well as he could, for James' sake.
Until they stood in the entrance hall, about to part ways. When Remus gave James a good luck hug, Sirius turned and started walking towards the Quidditch pitch. He didn’t need the wound opened by Remus walking past him like he didn’t exist. He didn’t need James' pitying eyes.
He knew very well he deserved it. It didn’t make it hurt any less.
Last game, he’d got a good luck kiss behind this very same building of locker rooms. A quick thing, in between giggles and glances to make sure they weren’t seen.
He sighed and went inside, a good ten minutes before anyone else would be there. A folded parchment note was spelled stuck on his locker.
Good luck. Fly safe.
Unmistakably Remus' neat handwriting.
Sirius sat down, pressed the note to his chest and took a deep breath. Deeper than he’d been able to breathe in weeks.
