Three times a charm... Gemini VI
In 1965 Gemini VI was planned to dock with an Agena Target vehicle but on October 25, 1965 it blew up so the launch was scrubbed.
On December 12, 1965 another problem at 1.2 seconds with engines shut down but the clock running! If the clock was right, then the vehicle had left the ground but it didn't and ground rules required an ejection from the spacecraft. However, Schirra & Stafford decided not to eject, despite the ticking clock. Schirra knew GLV-6 had not moved, and he knew the clock was wrong.
Gemini VI was finally launched on December 15, 1965 for a rendez-vous with the manned Gemini VII in Low Earth Orbit.
October 20, 1965 wrist watch-wise an interesting official NASA crew portrait session took place with Stafford pointing out that Schirra's Omega Speedmaster had lost its bezel!
