Finished slabbing the rest of the log today after sharpening my chain! Some nice stuff. One 16/4 and five 10/4 slabs. @mwawoodworks is starting a #showmeyourwood Wednesday, so here are the two silver maple slabs I'm turning into charcuterie boards. This is my first live edge project and the first time I've taken a piece from tree (branch) to lumber, to finished project. It's a lot of work, but also been very rewarding. This wood is special because it's from my parent's neighbor's house in Pittsburgh. Locally grown, family harvested, self processed, dried, worked, and finished. Check my feed later for the finished pieces. They're still in the oil bath right now, but they'll be ready for board butter later tonight. I know these don't look too much different from last time but if you look close, you can see that I've put the round over on the handles and I've done a ton of sanding to smooth the live edges. Still lots more sanding to go, but these are looking pretty good.
