eddie denying any romantic involvement with alex vs. whatever the hell buck thought he was doing
please dear god let that psychologist alex doyle be a catalyst for a gay eddie realization rather than allowing her to become yet another pointless casualty on the list of eddie diaz's dating war crimes send tweet
Look, Tim wanted stakes.
That's why he killed off Bobby.
And this season seems like a hard reset of the show.
Something has drastically shifted.
The pacing is slower, dynamics are different....
What if, Hen does treatment. Said treatment slows the progression of her disease, but she can't go back into the field. No more paramedic Hen.
But....Chief Simpson retires...and who should apply for the new role of Fire Chief?
Henrietta Wilson.
And season 10 we get a new paramedic.
A determined young woman who's not used to family dynamics like the 118 and doesn't want to hang out outside of work.
But she slowly lets them into her heart.
Alex Doyle....a therapist working with Athena.
Boom. Eddie's endgame.
Does she have kids? No. She never saw herself as very maternal. But she adores Chris and becomes the mom her stepped up and will look Eddie in the face and say "Edmundo Diaz. Your son is 15 years old! He doesn't need a babysitter."
Buck and Tommy get back together and start building a life together. With drama from Tommy's dad coming back into the picture or Margaret asking them when they're going to become fathers before they even thought about the idea of having kids. (They decide they don't want kids and get a cat instead)
May goes back to Dispatch and eventually moves into Maddie's role when Maddie gets promoted to Josh's role...who's taken over for Sue when she retires. May gets a scene with Chris or Denny when they choose dispatch as their work experience program for school.
Ravi gets the hot bachelor shenanigans and he gets to use his past as a childhood cancer survivor to help someone find comfort and hope. He gets the 118 to visit and volunteer at a children's hospital.
Harry struggles with life as a firefighter. He loves it, but he wants something more. Then he sees an Air Support rescue in person and he just knows that's what he wants to do. Athena does not want her son in the air, but lets him take flying lessons...but only if Tommy is the teacher and Buck goes up with them. (And on one of these lessons, one where Buck didn't go up because he was dying of the man flu, the helicopter is involved in a crash. Athena AND Buck crashing out? GIMME!!! Also gimme the juicy plotline of Harry getting better and getting right back into that chopper. Because he WILL be a helicopter pilot, dammit!)
I see the potential and I really think Tim is simply resetting the show. Fixing some mistakes and changing dynamics.
this lore goes CRAZY
Tbh my spec on Alex after her being all “i saw how she looked at me”, is that if we see her again she will talk to Eddie about Buck’s behaviour around him somehow, or Eddie’s around Buck.
Like the woman witnessed “Eddie is a vet too”, “Athena invited us”, the whole “if you say chain of command one more time” “or else what?” and now “Eddie!” and “let me see” and “oof, that’s gonna be a shiner, but we can sell that as sexy” and how for Buck there was literally only Eddie in that scene.
You don’t have to be a therapist to see that something is happening here… like I would totally think they are husbands if i was in her place.
Also she should have noticed how Eddie totally didn’t even think about the possibility that Abigail could have feelings for him, or that she could think that something is happening between him and Alex because he was like “you?..”
Like I won’t be surprised if she will be like a Tommy-lite addressing some implications of possible feelings between Buck and Eddie, but to Eddie this time.
Like if they wanted to do something close to Alex being Eddie’s LI, she could be a mystery bidder instead of Maddie or be at the auction. And they could have a date or something, but no, they literally chose for Eddie to ask Maddie buy him out (like the woman who is not only totally unavailable, but also was there when Buck had a spiral about Eddie, and who as we know thinks that it wouldn’t be so crazy if Buck and Eddie were in love). What a choice literally. Like it could be Alex, or they could change the timeline and have Hen there to bid on Eddie, or May, or like whoever, or they could just have him go on a date with someone, but no)
Like seriously, she called Eddie “Diaz” during their coffee meeting, we don’t have anything to worry about guys
I still see people suggesting that Alex being a love interest for Eddie won’t happen because it’s stupid. And like, yeah babe. That’s why I’m scared. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the writers of this show are incredibly stupid. I have no faith in their writing ability.
They just had a religious trauma victim turn kidnapper. (They could’ve done so much and they chose to make the victim a villain for no good reason) They have Hen comparing Chim to Gerrard. (The racist guy? The sexist guy? I know this show loves an unearned character arc but he’s still a bastard actually and Hen would NEVER compare Chimney to that guy) Hen is somehow miraculously recovering from an autoimmune disease. (That’s not how any of this works at all) And that’s just last night.
The writers are their own worst enemy. They can’t get within one thousand feet of a good storyline before crashing and burning. I don’t have a lot of faith in them, but all the faith I have is focused on just how stupid they are.
i giggle and sigh every time i think of alex because what do you mean they introduced a woman who could have been with all intents and purposes been eddie’s perfect love interest but he spent all of season 9 avoiding woman to the point he bet over 2500 dollars on himself as to not go on a date with a woman
Do you really think Alex Doyle is a love interest for Eddie?
Well...
A "name" actress and not just a random guest star
A full character name and background that easily integrates w/the 118
An "outsider" to the 118 who is portrayed positively as competent and sympathetic
Was introduced on a call and had a "hero moment" with Eddie
Was introduced in the episode that aired RIGHT AFTER Ryan Guzman talked about "sprinkling in" a little romance for Eddie
Is played by an actress who has played opposite Ryan Guzman as his love interest before, and had decent chemistry with him
Like would I stake my life on it? No. But I'd put 20 bucks down on the table fairly confidently.
