Very funny to me that they made Alice a sort of niece figure to Hellboy in the 2019 movie (while she was a love interest in the comics) after making Liz a love interest in the GDT movies (while she was a sort of niece figure in the comics). Can’t we at least pretend we’re following the source material

If I had a nickel for every time Hellboy had a romantic relationship with someone that he's known since they were a minor, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's gross that it's happened twice.
Why does this keep happening? It's weird and gross and doesn't make sense for Hellboy to have a romantic relationship with these two (at least not to me). I still enjoy these ships, they are genuinely sweet together. I just wish that it was a platonic relationship instead.
