i resent the implications of the phrase ‘just friends’. what do you mean just, i just hate how it’s normalised for friendships to be lesser.
for me friendship is the most important form of relationship seeing as i don’t feel romantic attraction and family has always been more of an act or forced love aside from certain immediate family. i love saying these are my friends, i love the word friend and friendship its so pure to me. the greatest honour i can bestow someone, they’re my friend. i love my friends, more than anyone else in my life. everyobe whom i love and care for, they’re my friends. that connection of friendship is the one i value most.
this isn’t to say that friendship is the end all be all, i’d hate to perpetuate the stereotype of one love to rule them all whether it’s family, or romance or friendship. this is me saying friendship is the relationship that means most to me, and that it shouldn’t be considered inherently lesser than romance or family.
