Thank you, fanfic writers.
I know I’m late for Fanfiction Writers Appreciation Day, but I still wanted to give a shout-out to some of my favourite writers (even the ones not on Tumblr!)
My first fanfic was 10 years ago and I can’t for the life of me remember the exact author who ignited my decision to write fanfic, but here’s some that have made an influence along the way.
mandymld, whose incredible and extremely history-detailed Liason fics is what inspired me to write my own. This girl’s stuff should really play out in the show instead of the ongoing shitfest it’s become. Her ideas are phenomenal and her stories are the reason I started shipping Johnny and Georgie, seven years ago. I especially recommend “Thanks to Helena, My Life Wasn’t Ruined!” and “Switching Places.”
Hyde’s Bride, one of (possibly the) first Zenmasters fic writers I ever read. Dollface comes to mind in particular, but all her stories are so good.
nannygirl, (@supernannygirl704things) not only because I absolutely love her stories (but am bad about reviewing these days; sorry, honey!,) but also because she is just such a beautiful person. Her ensemble fics of the gang and Red/Kitty are so wonderful to read. Just looking at her page, she’s written 114 stories, which is awe-inspiring! She has such a grasp on each individual character, particularly RK and I honestly don’t know what is my favourite fic of hers, because I love many of them so much. She’s been extremely encouraging to me in all the fics I’ve written lately, and I probably wouldn’t have continued the first one I tried if not for her. If you don’t know Prissy, you’re really missing out.
poetdameron (@jacquelineshyde,) whose Heart Like Yours inspired me to write fanfic again (the last time I wrote a fanfic was three years ago, and I only got two chapters in.) No matter what the petty haters say, she is a talented af, amazing writer with a strong grasp of the 70s characters and the fact that she wrote all her stories in a language that is not her first language makes her legendary. If I hadn’t already known English wasn’t her first language when reading her fics, I wouldn’t have ever known.
and finally, Crookshanks.x, whose What If You Could’ve Wished Me Away is simply breathtaking. She is certainly an underrated author in the Dramione fandom.
