Prompt inspired by a totally awesome manga. The Hero's Bereaved Family
Nicholas Arc made his name in defeating the Demon Lord. He lived his life and gained massive wealth and treasure. Dying of old age, his son (Jaune Arc) gets called for the reading of his will. Unfortunately it seems that dear old Nick was a womanizer that slept his way across the land and ended up fathering MANY children with different races (Elf, Human, Dragon, Giant, etc) and they all got called to read the will. Not all of them answered but enough did. The will is simple.
"Those that remain after five days will get their share."
"To all of my children, please forgive your father for his inability to share a roof with all of you and your mothers. In my travels, I have met many beautiful women, all of whom have made me happy with no exception. As such, I gift unto you my greatest treasure of all; Avalon, the once ruined homelands of my ancestors, now restored to their former glory. If this is the first you're hearing of it, know that it was meant to be a surprise upon completion, and I guess I didn't get to tell you yet. It is a beauty to be seen to be believed, much like your mothers on the day we met. However, while the land is spacious enough to support you and your children and your children's children and your siblings and your parents and your parent's parents, it cannot be owned by more than one Arc. As such, I call upon you to choose your champion of each house of Arc, the strongest child that I have sired with your mothers, and prepare yourselves for..."
"The Great Arc War"
Jaune set down the paper, looking over his entire family with mixed emotions. Few of them were positive, most of them negative, and a couple close friends nodded with mixed understanding. The lone- at least, as far Jaune knew- human son of Nicholas Arc had a mix of emotions himself; the surprise at potentially having more than seven sisters, the intrigue that he might have a brother he never knew of, the revulsion of his father's unfaithfulness to his mother, and the much more familiar feeling of being set up by his father for him to fail. He folded the will, gave a sigh, and uttered the even more familiar words he'd said to and of his father;
"Gods dammit, Dad..."
----------
"Excuse me, are you..." Jaune squinted his eyes at the page in his hand. "Allen Arc?"
The figure he was speaking to was tall and cloaked in a tarp painted with odd shapes of green and brown. Dwarfed by such an imposing figure, the only light in the shade he found were the blue eyes of an Arc that he'd recognize anywhere. If this wasn't the man he was looking for, he was sure he would at least get directions to the combatant he was searching for. A pale left hand glid from the depths of the shadows and jutted a thumb up.
"Oh, good!" Jaune folded the page. "So, uh, this might be a surprise to you, but I'm your half-brother." He extended his hand. "The name's Jaune. Jaune Ar-." A knee crashed into his cheek, sending him to the floor in a spiral. "Ow..."
The tall figure snarled something in a language Jaune didn't understand. He knew a few Elven words, but not enough for him to know full sentences. However, he did recognize an elven swear word when he heard it, and there were at least three in the insult that was thrown at him. Standing up, Jaune found Allen approaching with the speed and grace of a deer, and the ferocity and fury of something that hunted deer.
"You insult me once." Allen said with a voice not really fitting of a young man. "You insult me twice." In fact, the voice was a lot more feminine than Jaune was expecting. "You insult me thrice." With a flick of a hand too fast for Jaune to catch anything but a blur, the hood came down to reveal a woman with platinum blonde hair, sapphire blue eyes, and skin as pale as ghost milk. "You insult me no more."
"Ah, crap-!" Jaune lifted his hands, waving to show himself unarmed and pro-friendly. "Look, I'm just here to invite you to 'The Great Arc War'," he said the word with sarcasm, something that seemed to ease the tension between him and his half-sister, "so I just need to know if you're Allen Arc and if you'll be participating."
"Elen."
"Say again?"
"My name..." She tossed her hood down, suddenly armed with an already notched bow. "Is Elen Bela-Arc. And you, Jaune Arc, shall be mounted on my wall."
"Oh no-" was all Jaune had to say as the arrow struck his face.
----------
Tinnitus was something Jaune wasn't familiar with until today. The loud crashing of metal against metal as steam hissed from roaring waters and molten carbon assaulted his nose. The light from outside the workshop filtered in through slits on the walls, only to die off a few feet in as smoke and kiln flame respectively smothered and outshone what little came through. Covering his nose, he approached the lone figure working alone out of rhythm of the machines surrounding them.
"Excuse me!" Jaune called, deafened by the work of craftsmanship. "EXCUSE ME!" He tried again, getting an airborne wrench to his teeth. "Ack!"
"Don't yell at me!" The woman shouted with a muffled voice beneath her faceguard. With a lift, he found the exact opposite of what he'd seen so far in the dwarven mining village. Where the others had red, brown, and yellow hair of variant degrees of dark shades, this woman had orange hair similar to Nora's, save for the curled and singed bit of red rising from the top. "The name's Zahn. Zahn Ar-Arc~!"
"Oh, great! You're who I'm looking for! The nam-"
"Jaune Arc." She smiled. "I was expecting you!" Jaune wasn't expecting being greeted so politely, especially after getting struck only a few minutes ago. "Over here. We can talk in the nook. Have you eaten today?"
"Uh, I could have a bite." Jaune answered, following his half-sibling. In truth, he hadn't eaten much recently since starting his search.
"I'm hoping for more than just one bite. Tea or coffee?"
"Coffee." He continued as he sat down at the table. It was surprisingly average sized compared to him. His feet touched the floor without much bend in his knees. As she worked at her counter, which was about as tall as the table but with a shelf in front for stepping on. "You know about The Great Arc War, right?"
"Yup, yup, yup!" She cheerfully answered. "Though it's not gonna be much of a war when I show up!"
"Glad to see you've got confidence." Jaune chuckled. "I'd really hate to fight you, you know."
"I'd hate to fight me, too." She turned with a smile, the knife in her hand stained red from the tomatoes. "You mind anything off your sandwich? Onions? Lettuce?"
"I'm fine with anything." He looked around. Despite the ceiling only about a few feet from his head, it was surprisingly cozy. And, to be honest, Jaune was more than happy to get welcoming surprises. Contrasting the workshop, the kitchen/dining room had a large window taking up half the wall for a view outside. The warm sunlight sent a tingle along Jaune's skin. "This is a lovely home."
"I try to keep it lively since Mom passed away." She said, the chipperness of her tone dulled.
"Oh, I'm... I'm sorry to hear that."
"Don't be." She set his plate in front of him, and his coffee to the side. Atop his wooden plate sat a sandwich with thick breading, dripping tomatoes, onions, and lettuce surrounding the slices of meat within. "Death just happens sometimes."
Despite the grim topic, Jaune lifted the sandwich. "Yeah. And, uh, thanks." With a bite, Jaune was instantly craving more. The flavors came and went faster than the sandwich itself, which Jaune devoured in less than ten bites. Worried that he ate too fast, he took his mug and downed the coffee and washed away the sweetness and savory tones with bitterness. "Hah..."
Zahn gave a chuckle. "You eat just like him."
"Hm?"
"Dad."
"Oh... right." Jaune had forgotten the reason he was speaking with his sister. "Uh, well, I won't bother you any longer. I'll be on my way and-"
Jaune stood from his seat but was suddenly on his back outside the kitchen. Looking up, he saw the woman half his height walking towards him. Halfway to him, she was towering over him. Standing over him, she was towering over what she towered over. Suddenly, he felt incredibly small compared to the woman he was speaking to before. Clambering to his feet, he narrowly avoided being crushed by the monstrosity the woman had become.
"I warned you, Jaune Arc!" A voice boomed from a speaker. The human being addressed noticed the dwarves fleeing to their homes. He'd been so caught up in his mission to find his estranged half-siblings that he didn't notice the village was wide in the shape of a horseshoe, with Zahn Ar-Arc's workshop at the peak. This wasn't a village square; it was a battleground, and Jaune was the new combatant to walk into it. "This won't be war when I step in."
"Oh no..."
----------
Jaune awoke with a throbbing headache. Come to think of it, everything throbbed in his body. It was as if his arms and legs were trying to explode to show the world his bone structure within. Aura would help him recover, but it did little for the actual pain. The last image he could recall through his agony was a shadow passing over him. At first, he thought it was a cloud, but once it started getting darker, he realized he was being ambushed, far too late to react properly.
Now he was inside of a cave, dark and damp, with only a light at the end of the tunnel to grant him sight. Crawling forward, he realized how quickly he was moving; the weight of his armor and weapons was removed. He reluctantly fumbled back towards the cavern wall from which he awoke and patted around for his sword, shield- anything that he was carrying that wasn't the clothes on his back. Finding nothing, he gave a sigh and returned to the light.
Making his way down the winding passageway, the chill from the room before was gone, replaced by a growing warmth to a reasonable room temperature. Making one final turn, each one before illuminating the road ahead a little more until it was almost blinding, he arrived a large- scratch that- HUGE chamber filled high with treasures of variant but no lesser value than that of a kingdom itself!
And sleeping atop the highest pile was dragon. Unlike the Wyvern he'd read in his father's old Grimm research books, the creature had pale blue scales that glinted a light green with each rising breath, a spined tail that likely would have skewered him if it so desired, and plumes of white smoke rising with each descending exhale. And sitting atop its head was Crocea Mors, because of course they would be.
Slowly approaching, searching for a reasonable enough cover should the worst happen, Jaune could be mistaken for thinking this chamber to be filled with snow at first. Marble pillars rose from the miniature mountains of alabaster plates of different armors from numerous, hopefully still living occupants. There was even a bullhead here, albeit in torn and rended pieces. With all this metal, Avalon could have its own armory to satisfy an armory!
It was at this point that Jaune remembered the reason he came this way, before being abducted by a leukomaniac dragon. He was searching for his half-sibling to invite them to his father's "Great Arc War" in which his children would do battle for the right to own their ancestral home. The half-sibling was one Locker Arc, whom he hoped was alive, okay, and not in the belly of the massive, mythical beast that gently lifted and lowered its wings. Jaune instinctively stopped, noticing its movement, and hurriedly moved to behind the safety of a pearl white box car. When no further movement came, likely it just doing draconic tossing and turning in its sleep, Jaune lifted himself up and nearly gasped.
On the other side of the hoard, right next to the dragon's head, was his backpack and armor! It'd be a gamble, an especially risky one at that, but there wasn't much better chance than now for him to take at least half of his important gear back. Carefully leaving the car, he walked stealthily towards his quarry, using the same technique his father taught him by stepping on his heel and rolling to his toe. He remembered the man attempting to teach one of Jaune's sisters, only for her to blow him off in the usual teenage girl fashion, and Jaune just so happened to be in earshot of the lesson in question. Surprisingly, almost ironically, Jaune's father's lesson would help Jaune survive the mess his father had made.
Each step became that much longer and that much faster as the dragon began to stir more frequently now. However, despite all the sudden stops and agonizingly slow start ups of his own movement, Jaune finally reached his backpack and armor. Unfortunately, when took his backpack off of the eggshell-colored coat rack, be it from fear or because the bag was acting as a counterbalance, everything that could go wrong would go wrong because of Jaune Arc's Law.
The rack fell, knocking over a silver crate of white marbles that spilled down a crevice with enough force to topple a stack of blank printer pages that fluttered in the air towards the dragon. Exhaled steam sent the pages skyward and to the other side of the cavern, one landing atop the marble pillar and, much like the rack, offset it just enough to send it toppling down and smashing into the platform where the box car was displayed, sending the vehicle flying over Jaune's head and slamming it into the wall.
Jaune shut his eyes, waiting for a roar, a bellow, and whatever flame or magical breath the mythical creature expelled that would turn Jaune into the next trophy in this cave. Yet such an end was not to come. At least not yet. Because the dragon was still sleeping. Deeply sleeping. Jaune gave a soft sigh of relief that he was safe for at least one more second.
Above, however, Jaune was too distracted by the white hoard to notice the white clouds collecting moisture in the ceiling above. A single drop formed at the end of the stalactite, which then dripped from its precarious position down from overhead onto Crocea Mors. The sword and shield atop the dragon's head let out a soft "Plink~!", making Jaune twist his neck so fast he would have suffered whiplash were he not so afraid of what came next.
With a snort, the dragon's eyes opened, azurite blue with a tint of olive spearing to the corner, and locked onto Jaune. Rising from its prone position, its head reached to the top of the cavern, a rumbling thunder from its throat. It stretched its wings wide, dragging its hoard across the ground with a pained shriek of metal. Jaune stood frozen as it lowered its head, an intrusive and stupid thought telling him to grab Crocea Mors and run, leveling its gaze with him.
"Uh... G-Good morning~?"
Lok Kaar
----------
Three days. Jaune had been traveling this region for three days now. He walked north until he hit the river. He walked south until he hit the farmlands. East until the forest, west until the swamps, Jaune walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and he was getting SICK OF IT! His dad sends him on a stupid mission to find his half siblings from beyond the grave and didn't think to give him an exact location?! Sure, families sometimes move, and yeah, there's also the chance that we went the wrong way, and okay, it's also likely that he could just wait for them to come to him, but he was still sick of it!
"That does it!" Jaune tossed his bag at a stone outcrop in the ground, sitting down and waiting until Groan Vat In Arc, or whatever their name was showed up! He didn't care if it took years! Heck, he didn't care if he'd have to go home at this point! In fact, forget Avalon! His father's 'gift' can go to someone else for all he cared! All of this, and more, were what Jaune felt and said in his mind for at least a minute before he sighed and stood up. It wouldn't be right, and he wouldn't be either, so he walked over to the outcrop on his left-
Wait, wasn't it on his right. Looking back, the outcrop was gone, but looking forward again had shown it disappeared from there, too! Looking to his left, this time facing north, he spotted the outcrop. Closing his eyes, he turned around, opened them, and found the outcrop sitting in front of him, this time a few feet instead of a few yards away. He nodded, reaching for his bag, then watched it shift just out of reach.
Suddenly, the wind picked up and nearly forced Jaune to be skewered by the rock in front of him. However, before such a thing could happen, the stone fell with his bag, both slipping into the ground like a potato in his sister Saph's stew. The wind blew harder and harder, almost as if in puffs. Turning, Jaune found not puffs, but huffs. Of laughter. From a face made of far-off tree branches.
"G..." Jaune swallowed. "Groan?" The laughter stopped and the trees bent to make a frowning face. Jaune felt the wind pull him towards it, sending him tumbling foot over face until he could see the face clearly in the treeline. With a bellow of wind, Jaune tumbled backwards, this time the wind carrying a voice that was as deep as the mountain and as vast as the sky.
"GRǾǾǾǾǾNN VAAAAATNNN AAAAARC!"
"Grǿnn Vatn Arc..." Jaune repeated to his half-giant half-sibling, earning and eased tree bend. "My name is Jaune Arc. Our father was Nicholas Arc." The trees bent a little and gray clouds began to gather overhead. "He..." Jaune gulped, speaking a little louder. "He was a good man. And he asked me to ask you to join his other children in The Great Arc War. Do you agree?"
Everything became quiet. Stagnant. It was almost choking. However, Jaune get his answer when the stone outcrop from before rose with his bag attached. Cautiously taking the bag, the face ahead smiled and shifted, this time up and down. Jaune smiled in return, now wondering how he and a giant would return home to prepare for his father's challenge. These thoughts would suddenly change as quickly as the face ahead and as the earth quaked beneath his feet.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Tumbling once more, Jaune clung to the outcrop as the world itself upended and the distant mountains became sideways. Looking below, his feet dangling, he saw a much larger face in the ground, this one creasing deeply into a scowl at the tiny Jaune.
If Grǿnn was Jaune's half-sibling, then he just met Grǿnn's mother... and he instantly became her enemy.
----------
In all of Jaune's wildest imaginations, from his dreams of becoming a hero to his aspirations of rising from the nothing he believed himself to be now, not once did he imagine traveling this far beneath the surface. Resting miles from the nearest settlement, both horizontally and vertically, rested what Remnant knew as the "Dark Kingdom", Sulf. It was hot and it was cold, it was stagnant yet ever changing, and it was both alluring and offensive in its stench. It was the first time Jaune ever retched while traveling because of something other than his mode of transport.
"This sucks..." Jaune groaned, the city streets surprisingly clean for an underground location, free of bat guano and... cave beetles? Jaune didn't really know what the people were like here, let alone what animals that counted as pest, pet, or plate serving. Still, he soldiered on, through the crowded street, trying to read the signs for the house he's looking for. "Um, is it here, or...."
"Don't you look lost?" Jaune jumped as he turned to the voice suddenly behind him. A young woman wearing a red cloak with black accents wore a sweet smile as she waved. "Hi~!"
"Hi...?"
"Looking for something?" She leaned closer, her horns as visible through her golden locks as her inhuman sideways pupil eyes. "Or are you looking for someone~?"
"Uh..." Jaune gulped. "A little of both, actually." He opened up his list. "I'm looking for this person, Goat Mossplay-Arc."
The throng surrounding Jaune became both silent and invisible. Hordes of people had swiftly moved away from the two. The girl, if disturbed, didn't show it and gave a chuckle. Lifting her finger from her cloak, a gnarled hand traced along the page. Part of him wanted to peek inside, but knew better both as a gentleman and also as a stranger in a place he'd only heard of a few weeks ago. The stories he heard seldom shared an image of people with civility or qualms about killing out of anger. However, she read the words aloud from start to finish.
"Ged-Med-Un-Gisg." She tapped the page. "Goat." She traced again on the longer word. "Tal-Med-Fam-Mals-Ur-Graph-Na." She tapped again. "Mospleh." The final word. "Un-Don-Veh."
"Arc." Jaune said.
"Mhm!" She rounded around him, a distinct clatter from the stone floor. Hooves. "They're over here. I know them personally~!"
"Oh, that's great! I'm actually their half-brother." Catching up to her side, he extended his hand. "Jaune Arc."
"And how do you spell that?" She teased, giving a giggle as he struggled to figure it out. "Tell you what; after you meet Goat, you and I can have a little language lesson. Help you... wrap your tongue around mine~." Jaune flushed even harder, making her cackle.
The trek to Goat's home was comforting, despite how many times Jaune flushed. As quickly as he'd arrived, the scion of the Arc family had made a friend, ("It's a secret~!" as she introduced herself), in a city he'd only just discovered. Well, discovered existed, since it was first found by humans by his father half a century ago, likely shortly before his elder half-sibling was born. He wasn't sure how long ago his father met the 'Cavern Cloves', as they were known, before meeting his mother. 'How deep was the man's infidelity?', as Jaune thought, 'As deep as these caves?'
Such thoughts were quickly broken as his new friend called out their destination. "Golden Goat Grove~!" She leaned in to whisper. "Don't let the name fool you; it's all yellow on the other side."
Without waiting, the girl opened the door, calling out something in the language Jaune never knew. The interior was, as she described, filled floor to wall to ceiling with yellow bricks and stones and flames in braziers. The hall within felt different from outside; less hot than warm, more cool than cold, and even the smell was more pleasant. Furniture, however, was much more sparse, as there was only a single seat in the entire building. Large and imposing with a sword's hilt and pommel extending from the rest.
"So, what do you think?" She asked.
"It's nice." He lied. It would be rude to insult a home you just entered. "I mean, there's... a lot of room."
"Yeah, but that keeps it from being so... stuffy~."
"Yeah, I suppose I get thaaaaaaaa..." Eyes nearly popping out of his head, the young woman before him had removed her cloak, hanging it on the arm rest of the throne-like chair, and revealed her outfit beneath. Or perhaps the term should have been 'shown off her revealing outfit' as it was little better than a very constricting tube top and the shortest of shorts Jaune had ever seen, both serving a splendid purpose of distracting him from the gnarled finger hands and cloven hooves ending her shoulder and hip length caramel brown fur. Catching himself, he blushed and turned away. "Uh, don't you think Goat will be, um, upset that you're doing to a stranger in their house?"
"Why would I care?"
"Well, Goat's your friend, isn't he?"
"I didn't say that." She giggled, seating herself in the chair and crossing a leg over her knee. "I just said I knew them personally."
"Uh... How personally?" Jaune gulped. Was it getting hotter, or was he that distracted by her?
"Personally enough to know that a naughty boy like you shouldn't be ogling his big sister like this~."
"Well, I mean, yeah, that is kinda messed up, but that doesn't..." He blinked. "What?"
"Bingo~." She gave a giggle again, but this one was less best friend after school playfully and more apex predator hungry for their next meal. "Hey, lil' bro..."
"Oh..." The heat fell from Jaune and dropped into a pit of ice in his stomach, rising like a pillar up his spine.
"Now then, how would you like to play a game~?"

Nora: “…don’t.”
Pyrrha: “Don’t what my love?”
Nora: *mouth opens and closes several times* “Not that. Anything but that.”
Yang: “What’s going on?”
Ren: “The great Pancake versus Waffle debate is about to kick back off. I’m afraid.”
Weiss: “It’s just a debate, Schönling, how bad could it be?”
Ren: “You misunderstand Weiss. I’m afraid. So afraid I’m going to help Jaune get Lily down for her nap.”
After Ren ran away looking slightly panicked Weiss turns back to the party to see the rest of her team struggling to hold back an AURA-LESS Nora from attacking a smirking Pyrrha. Jaqueline, Arslan and a couple of the Arc daughters are carefully trying to hide the gifts they brought.
Question: Do you think they'll give us one of Jaune sisters that we never met and which one you want to see
That's a fact about me but I've never had much interest in knowing about Jaune's 7 sisters, I don't mean to say that I don't like them, I just think it's something more comical than serious and if they are it appears in the next volume I believe it is Something comical, nothing too serious.
Jaune: “So when I was a little kid, my second older sister became really addicted to oxytocin. She went from getting A’s to D’s and she looked horrible all the time, but mom and dad just thought that she was under a lot of stress and that the classes were just harder than she originally thought. But her habits ended up getting worse and worse, to the point that she was spending all of her savings and whatever pitiful amount she could get her hands on to support her habit. One day while everyone was out of the house, she grabbed me by the hand and said we were going on a “Field Trip.” I didn’t question it, I was a kid and I had thought that she had come back to her old self even though she looked like absolute hell.”
“So, we ended up taking a bullhead into Vale and went to what I still consider to this very day to be the shadiest looking apartment building, up several flights of stairs to the third floor and she knocks on the door. After a moment, the door opens up and she ushers me inside we’re a I see a really messy room attended by two guys: A super jacked up Tiger Faunus and a scrawny looking human guy. the human guy has a bag in his hand and he askes her with a dubious look “So, how you gonna pay for it this time?”
She immediately responds “I’m paying with him.”
“Him,” being me. That’s right, my sister tried to sell me to the what I now realize were her dealers in exchange for more Oxy. The silence that followed after was deafening and both her dealers could only stare at her in complete disbelief. Angered at their hesitance, she asks them “Don’t you assholes do trafficking or some shit like that? I’ll just tell my parents that he was kidnapped, just give me the damn oxy!”
Another awkward pause of silence as the dealers both share a wary glance at each other, before the Tiger Faunus mutters “It’s a deal” as the human tosses her the bag and she hightails it out of that shithole slamming the door behind her and not even giving me a second look. The tiger Faunus shakes his head muttering about how my sister was a “Crazy Bitch,” before looking down at me with an apologetic look.
“Listen, I’m really sorry about this kid.” He said as he pulled out his scroll, “Here, give me your home phone and I’ll have your parents pick you up. Were do you live anyways?”
I hesitantly tell them that I live in Ansel, causing them to both give me shocked look before the scrawny guy all but shouts “She dragged you on a two hour bullhead ride for this? For fucks sakes, I told you we should’ve stopped dealing to her the moment she started paying us in bags of quarters!”
The two dealers bickered with one another for moment, before the Tiger Faunus called up my mom and the Scrawny guys was kind enough to lend me his DS with Mario on it to pass the time. My parents come and grab me and man I thought they were going to grease the dealers then and there but they let them slide after putting the fear of brothers into the two of them and then took me home. They, quite obviously, learned of what my sister had done from me and the sheer unbridled rage from my mom and the absolute ice cold vitriol my dad expressed to my sister was something I’ll always remember to this day and they pretty much gave her two options: go to rehab and get cleaned up, or not only get kicked out of our home but to have her name banished off the Arc family name to forever be an exile and pariah of the Arc family for the rest of her miserable days in abject shame.
She chose to go to rehab, kicked her drug habit, and managed to get sober after two years and has remained sober since. My parents bought me Pokemon Black and Chrono Trigger for what I went through as compensation.”
Jaune took a drink of his water, a little parched from his rather long story only to take note of the horrified slack jawed looks of both his team and team RWBY. Both Pyrrha and Ruby had tears in their eyes and he swore he heard Weiss muttering under her breath something about “mistreating him to much,” whatever that meant. The awkward silence was broken when Yang, who Jaune had noticed her eyes were red and also a little teary eyed, finally broke the silence.”
Yang: “...Jaune?”
Jaune: “Yes Yang?”
Yang: “...What in the actual fuck?”
Jaune: “Oh you think that was bad? That pales in comparison to this one time-”
