// Currently going through more of the new Lego Batman game, and noticed this Janus Cosmetics poster! I knew that, in addition to his explicit appearance in the game, you could find the steel mill, but I didn't realize Janus was also in it! Also love how they use the original company's logo from the comics (as opposed to Arkham Origins, for instance, among other interpretations).
Consider this a continuation to my previous post on the Black Mask references in this game, because I suppose I'll include some other things I noticed.
After his mission (you have to get through Roman to get information on Mr. Freeze), you see him in the Arkham Asylum segment. Most of the inmates have customized and altered their prison jumpsuits, and I thought it was interesting to see that Roman made sure his looked like a suit. It made sense, seeing as how he acts in the tie-in Arkham City comics (Arkham Unhinged), where his first priority is to find himself a suit to wear instead of the jumpsuit. And, as I've mentioned in my War Games analysis, this is no surprise, seeing how much that attire means to him; it's part of how he gets ready for his torture sessions, and his "reminiscing" dialogue suggests his mental associations with suits to his childhood and past. So! All that to say, I thought it was notable.
As for his mission itself, it honestly doesn't have too much on his character or references to his comics (minus the possible quote to Under the Hood I mentioned in my previous post on this game). He only really gets to joke once he's been caught, but besides some puns relating to Mr. Freeze, this car gag felt like the only joke I could imagine him really doing. He's slapstick in his dry humor, so, I liked it.
Other than that, I liked the detail they put into his character model. I was worried that if he did show up in the game, he'd just have a white suit and black skull for a head. But, they put the effort into it to show the pinstripes and contrasting gloves, and most of all, to make his skull-shaped mask have texture to it, to look like it's made of wood, not just a regular Lego black skull head.
Last thing I could find relating to Roman, on my first skim of the game were these graffitis during his mission. (Two pictures because I couldn't get a good shot of it while watching a playthrough.) Some of the skulls, namely the yellow one in the back, are more so a reference to the different minifigs Lego has produced for skeletons, but the blue skull in the front looks the most comparable to Roman himself. So, putting aside the Lego reference, as it relates to Roman, I thought it was an interesting graffiti, as the different colors and expressions on the faces feel reminiscent of his characteristic moods and their swings, predominantly his anger of course, and his more joking manner. I'm sure it's not what they were going for, but I thought it was interesting that they'd give him any graffiti at all for his mission.
