i forgot to poison myself with vitamin c supplements for a few weeks and my subclinical scurvy came back badly, including the keratosis pilaris, and my legs look like a closeup newspaper graphic in disgusting red. anyway i needed to get some acid on there to start eating off the dead skin so i put some white vinegar into my moisturizer and i think it's actually helping my eczema on my hands a lot
i really would prefer to use vitamin c (ascorbic acid) topically because the research on it is completely solid, but the problem is that if you dont chemically stabilize raw vitamin c (which i have a jar of in powder form), it will oxidize on top of your skin and dye it the most disgusting nicotine orange you have ever seen.
^^^ fuck this
and i have yet to make the reddit slog to find out what DIY skincare people use to stabilize their vitamin c preparations. im not paying twenty dollars for a tiny little pot of vitamin c serum when this shit is so cheap in bulk form. ditto hyaluronic acid btw which is VERY cheap in powder form and can be added to lotions or just water at home. it makes a fascinating, perfectly clear slime lump
