Alla fine dentro Askatasuna sgomberato ieri c’erano ben sei attivisti e due gatti. Tanto è bastato come pretesto alla polizia per sgomberare e murare lo storico centro sociale di Torino. Il ministro degli Interni Piantedosi e tutta la destra esultano per lo sgombero e lo rivendicano come modello da replicare in tutto il paese, mentre il Comune si è reso complice mettendo fine al percorso di regolarizzazione dello spazio sociale. Il fatto che dentro Askatasuna dormissero sei persone in una parte definita inagibile del palazzo, è stato il pretesto che ha fatto saltare il patto del Comune con un comitato di garanti per un progetto sui beni comuni. Proprio uno dei garanti, Giorgio Cremaschi, così ha commentato: “Lo sgombero del centro sociale, di cui sono orgoglioso di essere garante, è espressione della politica di guerra e di sostegno a Netanyahu del governo, della UE e della NATO. Il fascismo di Stato viene alimentato e rafforzato da queste politiche violente e reazionarie che si diffondono in tutto l’Occidente e che colpiscono prima di tutto il movimento per la Palestina e la lotta contro il riarmo e la guerra.” Cremaschi non risparmia critiche al Comune di Torino: “Ad agevolare l’operazione ci ha pensato la giunta comunale del sindaco Lo Russo (PD), il quale, appena è partita l’operazione, ha trovato un pretesto per ritirare il patto per il bene comune, un vero e proprio atto di viltà istituzionale”. E’ lo stesso comunicato diffuso dalla Questura di Torino ad ammettere che la gigantesca operazione di polizia ha portato al ritrovamento di ben poca cosa dentro il centro sociale. “Le perquisizioni, finalizzate all’acquisizione di elementi utili all’accertamento delle responsabilità in ordine ai reati ipotizzati (violenza privata, lesioni personali aggravate, interruzione di pubblico servizio, danneggiamento aggravato, violenza e resistenza a p.u. aggravata, blocco stradale in concorso), eseguite nel rispetto delle garanzie previste dall’ordinamento, hanno consentito di sequestrare dispositivi elettronici, capi d’abbigliamento utilizzati durante le azioni violente, fumogeni”. Insomma hanno trovato qualche computer, qualche fumogeno e capi di abbigliamento, come noto tutti strumenti di “altissima pericolosità sociale”. “E’ importantissimo difendere l’Askasatuna ma non è il centro di tutto, come spacciano i politicanti di destra. Ormai c’è un’articolazione anche nelle università, nelle scuole, nei territori e nel sociale, che spinge ai livelli di mobilitazione che vanno ben oltre le quattro mura del centro sociale Askasatuna, che oggi viene messo sotto attacco” – ha commentato ai microfoni di Radio Onda d’Urto, Giorgio Rossetto, storico compagno torinese dell’Askatasuna e del movimento No Tav – “Spero che la risposta sia adeguata e mi sembra che la scelta della questura di fare prima delle feste natalizie questa operazione sia un po’ avventata; c’è la possibilità di tenere il fiato sul collo, in modo che sia lo stesso fiato sul collo che si tiene sulle montagne della Val Susa, ai cantieri,  e penso che ci siano i margini anche nella zona di Vanchiglia, la zona dell’Askasatuna, per  poter lavorare ad un logoramento dello schieramento avversario”. Nel pomeriggio di ieri migliaia di persone sono arrivate in corso Regina da tutta Torino per solidarizzare con il centro sociale Askatasuna e protestare contro lo sgombero. Così come nella mattinata la polizia è nuovamente intervenuta con due camion con gli idranti contro il corteo. Torino da tempo è diventata il laboratorio delle politiche repressive statali, un modello che potremmo definire più sabaudo-bonapartista che fascista. Perfettamente funzionale alla fase storica che stiamo attraversando.

The other day (31 January) in Turin thousands of people marched peacefully in the streets to protest against the eviction of the Askatasuna, a self-managed social centre, and there's been some clashes with the police at the end of the day.

For example, a protester fell down while he was running away, and the police took the opportunity to beat him. Video from Repubblica.

A photographer who was on the scene was heavily beaten by four or five policemen until their superior stepped in to say stop and then take him away. Video from giuseppeyron.it on instagram. Alternative link from Fatto Quotidiano.

An old man simply passing by was hit in the head, left in a state of confusion with blood pouring down his face. The police saw him looking for help, dragged him a couple of meters and then literally left him on the ground while saying "we have to go away". Video from giuseppeyron.it on instagram. In the video (mattiaflip on instagram) we can clearly hear a man shouting that the police saw him and did not help him nor called an ambulance, when the law clearly say the citizens have the duty to rescue.

But something else happened: a policeman was assaulted. A bunch of guys beat him up, he lost his helmet in the process, they also had a hammer and hit him with that. Video from Tgcom24 on youtube.

Of course, right the next day Giorgia Meloni (prime minister) went to thank him personally in the hospital. A second injured policeman was also there. Video from Sole24ore on youtube. [side note: they were not in a private room, so there's a couple of people in their hospital beds in the background... where's their privacy in all of this?]

Meloni commented that this is "attempted murder". The policeman told her that "they are very organised" referring to the protesters.

All of this is happening with other stuff in the background, such as a massive landslide in Niscemi in Sicily (but Meloni took her sweet time to pay attention to that), the overall question that we still don't know why ICE will come to Italy for the Winter Olympics, or the referendum on the justice reform next month in which the non-residents will no longer be able to vote.

I have questions, like... Why the policeman who was oh so heavily beaten with a hammer and was oh so scared to die doesn't even have a single bruise? A scratch? Nothing? Looks like he just came out of the gym.

Also, I literally just opened facebook and found this, a long post of a journalist who saw a policeman run towards a group of protester (she think he had a pole in his hand) to beat them up, and then they run back at him and that's where the famous video starts. And an article that summarised all the links above with interview of the reporters involved.

Of course the right wing government is marching on the fact that protesters are all violent, and the injured policeman is an excuse to further push the narrative that we need more security and the left is dangerous.

They have been riding this wave and saying that the left is violent and dangerous since Kirk's death in september, accusing the left of death threats or wanting to recreate the Red Brigade. I mean, just last week, the youth section of the premier's party asks students to "to track down teachers who promote left-wing ideology in the classroom" and make a professor watchlist. All of this right before the Winter Olympics in Milan, when people are protesting about the presence of ICE.

But every time the left raise some concerns, they accuse us of being obsessed with them or to see Meloni everywhere, like in the painting that "it's just a coincidence" and was absolutely not made by a guy from her own fascist party.
