The Autistic Teacher
this i friend repeatedly sending me voice messages when i continously tell them not to because 1. im not always somewhere i can listen to audio and 2. even if i was i cant understand voice messages very well so theres no point. ive started just ignoring them now. ive known them 9 whole months and they keep on doing it almost everyday. i fear i may snap as much as i very dont want to cuz this is actually really annoying to deal with
I'm going to assume this is due to an auditory processing issue, in which case this is also related to these two blogs: @this-is-audism or @this-is-physi-sensory-ableism
Again, as I said to the previous anon, you really need to have a harder boundary set with this friend. There are tools that you can use to transcribe audio messages, but that also puts effort on you to understand them anyway, which is ridiculous. Consider suggesting dictation (voice to text) for your friend who sends audio messages? It's not perfect, but it may be a way to settle both of your access needs.
Shout out to folks with Central Auditory Processing Disorder/Auditory Processing Disorder!
Tomorrow morning I get to see if “hello, can you please not talk so loudly behind me in class? I have an auditory processing disorder and your side chatter makes it hard for me to hear” actually works or if I need to go full “SHUT THE FUCK UP I DID NOT TAKE OUT STUDENT LOANS TO FAIL THIS CLASS BECAUSE YOU CANT SHUT THE FUCK UP SO I CAN ACTUALLY HEAR THE CLASS IM PAYING FOR!!”
Working on my sona :3
sometimes i think im exaggerating my auditory processing issues to myself but then i go out in public and someone tries to talk to me and all i hear are sim noises
auditory processing disorder with no hearing loss is so stupid. like hi. technically there's nothing wrong with my ears but I can't hear shitfuck anyway. have fun having to repeat every sentence of this conversation at least once because I have no idea what you're saying. oh and there's no treatment btw I just have to deal with this yeah I know its inconvenient for everyone. fuck this shit man
