Later in the evening, I was taken to SHIELD Headquarters in New York. I was left alone in another room, but this time it was a large meeting room. I wasn’t alone for long before a tall red-haired woman walked in. She sat down in front of me. “Good evening, Aurelia. My name is Natasha Romanoff. I take it that you’ve recently escaped from the Red Room. Do you care to talk about it?” She prodded. “Is that what it was called?” “Yes. You don’t know much about it?” “No. I just escaped about six hours ago.” “The Red Room is a Russian operative created in the 1930s. They kidnap young girls and train them to be assassins. Strangely, you were one of them. Do you know how it happened?” “Like I told Maria, I was in Poland. I heard whispers about Russia doing something crazy but I thought it was just rumors. When we were investigating a possible Russian assassination, I was taken by them. I tried escaping but eventually it wasn’t worth it.” Natasha handed some papers over to me. “We want to recruit you into SHIELD. We can give you a new life, as long as you help us. You’ll be keeping the world safe, not hurting it. You can be safe with us.” I looked at the stack in front of me. They were a contract of employment, but most of it was vague to keep classified information at bay. “I’ll sign this, on one condition.” “What do you need?”
