While they (Strange, Peter and Tony) were on the donut ship, why couldn’t Strange just portal them back???

Was it for plot or was there actually a reason he couldn’t? I thought maybe he couldn’t do it in space, but then he did it just fine in Endgame???

Ok but why didn’t Strange just portal them all from Titan back to Earth after Thanos got the time stone? Or like when they were on the donut ship? Was it so Tony would be stuck in space in the beginning of Endgame or to have that bonding moment with Nebula that doesn’t really come up again? Or to have that reunion with Pepper and the dramatic “I lost the kid” to Steve??

Like Strange is a sorcerer, he easily could’ve got them all back to Earth to idk maybe try to stop Thanos again or be like “yo he’s got the time stone so we gotta protect Vision at all costs since destroying the mind stone can just be reversed”???
