Me: *mentions that i have a screwed up knee*
Person: oh what happened to your knee?
Me, sighing: it was a warm evening, august of 2016...
Point Break (1991)
When you have to face it your medicine collection continues to grow it sucks pretty badly.
I have several medications due to either mental or physical reasons trauma in my past has lead to disorders like Dissociative and PTSD then I have a bum knee that likes to give me trouble along with what the lactaid is for lactose intolerancy (Yay allergies ugh)and today I added an inhaler to my list as my asthma I had as a baby has relapsed
Really glad though cartoons and media in general are trying to represent the physical side it's still very uncommon they come out and say a character has a mental disorder
Zane and Cyrus Borg are two I really connect with I have a physical knee issue that causes me to have some issues with mobility and with Zane and his not so known about PTSD due to my own childhood trauma I know how it feels to deal with such a thing
I know there are many more examples of characters in media that I am missing out on that are excellent examples showing either physical or mental illness/Chronic illness in a correct light. Feel free to reblog this with those characters if you feel like it!
Best Valentine's Day a.k.a. thx bad knee
Standing at the hospital corridor bc there's no seat available so yay that will be a long night I guess
Running Myth BUSTED #1
Running causes knee arthritis later in life.
According to a study done from 1984-2002, and then published in 2008, “long-distance running among healthy older individuals was not associated with accelerated radiographic OA“.  The subjects were an average of 58 years old when the study began in 1984, and when they compared x-rays of the runner’s knees vs. the non-runner’s knees over time (up until 2002), there was no significant difference in either the amount of people with arthritis or the severity of the arthritis that was present.
Not saying they didn’t have arthritis at all...but basically everyone does after age 50 whether it bothers them or not.  Just saying that running is not the reason for it like the world seems to think!
...I also found a second article that backs up the first one and I linked them both below so y’all don’t have to take the word of an semi-anonymous social media post.  The second article also stated (twice), “There also is strong evidence that sex (female), former knee injury, quadriceps strength, smoking, running, and regular performance of sports are not associated with progression of knee OA.”
BAM. Â Myth busted :-)

Apparently if your knee is fucked up, you might start lifting your heel, and then your Achilles tendon will get used to it so when you try to put down your heel the oain in your Achilles tendon is somehow worse than the knee.
So that's fun
Hmm... Mysterious things happened today 🤔
My bad knee was extra bad today, I couldn't walk without the cane AT ALL and even still it was painful. Then during my afternoon nap, the knee popped couple times and almost immediately after the pain ceased.
I have a sligh hunch that the knee might have been dislocated 🤔
