Bruce definitely trained all the Robins to abandon him if things got bad. He'd give them scenarios like him trapped under something in a fire, hypothermic conditions, he's too injured, and they need to get information to Lucius, and the list goes on. And to date, the only bit of training his kids have continually failed, whether in simulation or practice, is failing to leave him behind.

i could probably write an essay about the over reliance on OCs in the batfandom, and how it's overall pretty harmful to your storytelling if the only established characters you have are bruce, dick, jason, tim, damian, and sometimes alfred, but it would probably just boil down to annoyance at "rich socialite #4 whos only personality trait is being rich" at a Rich Person Party, when you know that j. devlin davenport would play that role to perfection but there's not a single reference in sight??

The fanon insistence that the rest of the justice league are one dimensional incompetent morons Batman should bully and demean relentlessly is so absurd. Like, those are Bruce’s friends! People he loves and respects and has attempted to die for on multiple occasions!

When he’s a horrible ass to them in canon, it is meant to show that he is on the edge of a breakdown, like full violent destructive meltdown.

You can literally measure Bruce’s mental health by how he treats his friends: when’s he’s horrible to them, it’s not cool and badass, it’s explicitly him wrongfully lashing out at people that care about him.

Like, there’s a reason that when Bruce immediately succumbed to the Parallax parasite’s influence, it sent him straight into a paranoid, gnashing spiral of saying horrible things to and about everyone. And that’s just the first example that comes to mind.

Just. This placing of Bruce’s absolute worst character trait on a pedestal shows a complete lack of understanding of him, and an incomprehension of the comics and adaptations. Bruce’s mistreatment of the people around him is never a good thing, and always reflects badly on him.

DC Pet Peeve is when Batfanon people act like Bats are capable of keeping up with Supers. They always attribute this to Bats being smarter than Supers, and therefore make it seem like Supers are dumb as rocks. Jon learnt chess and mastered it enough to beat Lex Luthor in 7 seconds. He can perform micro-surgeries inside a person's brain mid-air. Clark, Paige and Kara are older, wiser, and have more experience. Kryptonite would weaken them but depending on the amount, they can recover from green kryptonite and they aren't useless without their powers either.

In their peak form, a Bat is nothing but a flimsy tissue paper to them. I don't think you are really sitting down and thinking about what it means to be faster than sound, to have the strength to move planets, breath glaciers and shoot the fire of the sun out of their eyes.

And even among the non-kryptonians, you've got the Steels who are geniuses on par with Lex and Bruce. Their tech is highly advanced and JH is from a military background and combats regularly with threats like freaking Mongul and Darkseid. A bat's gonna not look all that great coming out of a fight with the Steels.

The best a Bat can do is survive a Super. In canon, every time a Super is going all out, the ENTIRE Justice League has to come together to contain them with multiple losses. And that's usually just for one kryptonian Super (typically Clark). You're telling me Bruce, Tim, Dick or Damian ALONE can keep up with that???? PLEASE

Can anyone rec me some Batman fics with no use of the “pit madness” fanon trope? It doesn’t need to be Jason-centric, it doesn’t even need to have him be a significant character, and the genre of fic doesn’t matter. It can be as fanon-y as it wants as long as it isn’t mentioned. And I mean zero, absolutely ZERO mentions of it, or at the very least deliberate subversions. It gets so so exhausting having to play roulette with every fic on AO3 because it’s so rarely tagged yet is in 90% of DC works on the website. It’s a genuine trigger for me, and I can’t keep exhaustively searching through comments or the author’s other works to guess if it’s in there or not. Can we please popularize the “No Lazarus Pit Madness” tag? It would really make it easier for people like me :(
