The Legend of Korra: Bolin - Type 7w6

Bolin is fun-loving, enthusiastic and caring. He is laid-back and his personality directly contrasts with the much more serious Mako. 

At his best, Bolin becomes more mature and thinks through his actions more carefully. He wants to help people and improve their lives. While he is generally optimistic and friendly, when his friends and family are in danger Bolin will do what it takes to defend the people he loves. Bolin begins to fight more for what he believes in and for his ideals. He joins Kuvira’s army because he believes that she will help the Earthbenders.

At his worst, Bolin is immature and impulsive. He will underestimate the seriousness of situations and will ignore things that could be potentially unpleasant. Bolin can come across as narcissistic and self-involved. When he begins acting in movers, he becomes obsessed with his self-image and relishes the attention he gets for being ‘famous’. He ignores Mako’s warnings about Varrick and doesn’t help him when he needs it because he is too wrapped up in himself.

Bolin is often carefree and does not think much about the potential consequences of things. This could partially be because Mako would often shield him from the harsher realities of the world when they were growing up. As a result of this Bolin tends to believe the best in people and is overly idealistic. He is very quick to trust people and is naive to the possible negative intents that someone might have. We see this in his relationships with Varrick and Kuvira, as Bolin is oblivious of their true motives. 

Bolin is very forgiving and moves on quickly from issues. He does not hold grudges and we see his capacity to forgive on multiple occasions. For example, he quickly moves on from finding out Korra and Mako kissed which had really hurt his feelings. He also forgives Varrick quickly and is able to acknowledge that he did some good despite his treacherous actions. When he meets Varrick again he has moved past his misdeeds and is happy to see him again.

Bolin is very excitable and takes a great joy in his daily life. Bolin shows a great enthusiam and can tend to get star stuck when meeting ‘famous’ people. For example, we see this when he meets Korra and Zuko. At times Bolin can be swept up in the moment and lost in his emotions. For example, when he is fighting Unalaq he says he will face the end of the world with her and asked her to move to Republic City with him. 

Bolin shows his wing 6 as he is more overtly nervous and insecure than a wing 8. He is also less grounded and is more idealistic than a wing 8.
