firstly, i want to mention that im a plus size person so my struggles and benefits with it might look different than someone thinner or larger than me, or even from someone with a different body type than mine
aside from reducing size appearance, binding tape can also customize the shape of ur chest in a more detailed way
can be worn safely for days at a time
u can swim, sleep, and shower in tape
can be more expensive than a binder in the long run because u have to keep buying more instead of a one-time purchase
kind of tedious to remove imo (it causes me kind of a sensory nightmare to remove because i have to soak it all completely in oil) but can be coordinated to line up with showers so its not too bad
can be incompatible to use for people with sensitive skin
if u sweat a lot ull have to remove ur tape sooner than people who sweat less
u need to trim any particularly long hair around the application areas before putting it on or it will come off painfully, even with oil
transtape has application tutorials featuring multiple body types/sizes
transtape is the most well known, but also one of the most expensive. u can try other tape by brands such as: wet for her (18+ website), wivov, transguy supply, gc2b, chestbinderco
u need to take regular breaks from it to let ur skin breathe. its tempting to just have tape on all the time, but it will cause irritation and poor skin health to constantly have it covered in tape
u need to be realistic about what to expect when taping up with ur body type. larger breasts will simply not be flattened fully, so try to focus more on shaping ur chest if u have a lot to work with
full breasts vs breasts after being on t for awhile will also interact differently with being shaped and flattened
improper/impatient removal of the tape can damage and scar ur skin, so please make sure to be mindful!
wrt wearing it for awhile, once its time to refresh my tape, it usually starts to look a little gross and can leave an adhesive residue on my skin. i get greasy easily, so it loosens the adhesion more quickly for me. it can also start to make my nipples itch, but this is usually remedied with enough vaseline on them before i tape up. this is all typical of Tape Removal Time, and when i wear it i try to line up my application and removal on bathing days since u need to have clean skin for the best adhesion, and its easier to wash off the oil and residue if u hop in the shower immediately
