au I was synthesizing: mocumplane au shang qinghua as a prince, and shen yuan as a noble's son who was bored and decided to become a retainer for sqh, eventually becoming sqh's personal knight because of nepotism, politics, and promotions sy finding out that his charge, the prince, is flirting with a rival kingdom's lord (mbj) and mbj tries to kidnap sqh, and a high speed chase ensues, with shen yuan chasing after mbj, engaging in a fight on horseback, and swinging sqh up into his saddle and riding off into the distance mbj looking at both of them riding away: 'both. both is good.'

cue some lighthearted espionage and politics, shenanigans and hijinks

I dreamt that the Bingmei versus Bingge special happened but when Bingge showed up and wasn't a Binghorse ala @meltedmush's art Shen Qingqiu was so shocked at the sight and was all 'Binghorse what happened to you?!! Your hooves!'

anyway the big part was that Bingmei showed back up and was ready to take him on and Bingge looked at him and flexed and said ,"You didn't think you were the only one who could turn into a horse" like the one scene in utena and then became horrible chungus of a binghorse. And I got the image of two binghorse's doing the jojo's walk at each other.

Current plan:

SY wakes up as SQQ.  PIDW is as it’s supposed to except for protag as demented horse.  This is how SQQ and SQH reveal themselves to each other because only these two notice that something is wrong.

Shenanigan versions of the SVSSS plot, but unhinged Binghorse with owl heck and omnivore traits, and why does he have that axe?!  Like can he use it???

Riding to Skinner demon in a carriage with baby Binghorse thinking maybe one day he could be as powerful as those carrying the carriage.  SQQ mentally is like ??? in your arms??? On your back???  

Skinner demon where baby Binghorse considers eating the corpse. SQQ pushes it away and behind him so it’s less tempting

newly confident and living in the side room of the Bamboo house, but SQQ doesn’t ever see him leave or enter. Also somehow food is being made. he’s scared of what it’s made of! And as he grows, so does the neck!! Turns completely around like an owl and it cracks!! His eyes reflect light!! And there’s the bit with the axe!

During this time leading up to the Alliance is when SQQ meets SQH during a peak lord meeting.  He’s the only one who is also freaked out. "He's like MissingNo from Pokemon"

Mobei Jun appears as terrifying ice war/horse unicorn during the Alliance and both fall in.  SQQ panics about the protag not making it somehow.  Normal horses have something call coffin toe you know!

In Jinlin City after three years, Binghorse reunites with his beloved Shizun while grazing on the sower demons infecting the city.  Recreates the bracketed hoof against face on wall trope.  So much blood is dripping from him that it gets into SQQ’s mouth.  Including parasites!

Brief bit in the Holy Mausoleum where Luo Binghe’s dad is completely normal. When saying he needs a new body SQQ is like “that one?? The demented Seabiscuit?!”  Binghorse shows up with Xin Mo in mouth.  “Oh he can wield the sword too! Sure let’s weaponise him further!”

Oh SQQ was having the worse feeling about his worse luck about this worst case situation he was about to be in.  “Hey System?”

Before SQQ’s eyes was the literal script.  He skimmed over right now to the near future.  Okay so they do find Luo Binghe’s dad and snakey boi... Boss fight avoided... Easy ending should be coming up... but... there were a lot of pages for just the standard The End.  What else could happen after the BFB showdown was avoided? What, did SQQ and company watch Luo Binghe finally bed a wife while clapping and saying congratulations?

Dumbfuck Author of Dumbfuck Novel wasn’t even- How could the- That didn’t fit... Especially there....

“Fuck to save the world!?”  SQQ shrieked and ripped the script in half.  What a cliche!  What hackwork! What did past him throw himself upon Binghe’s luxious golden thighs and do unspeakable things? Certainly not unthinkable - he wasn’t a saint.  He was an immortal with a rich imagination who also wasn’t blind.  Being attracted to the OG stallion was like being attracted to the planet’s surface.  Simple law of gravity.  But to go through with it- And those circumstances- and- and-

And was he supposed to do that with Binghorse?! 

“Oh hell no.”  SQQ stuffed the torn script back into his inventory, pulled out the false jade Guanyin, and stomped further down the way where he was going to fix this plot.  (And save some of those previous attempts for private later.  For educational purposes.  Intellectual immortal as a reminder.  He just needed to get through without all the blood forever staining his thin face.) 

Whipped Binghe's beloved fake Guanyin necklace around his disciple's neck, pulled it back like a bit then lead him away from trying to destroy the world.

"Shizu-!" Power of the protagonist to speak through Xin Mo in mouth, tears in his eyes, and the impromptu bridle yanking across his teeth. Actually speaking of the evil sword - Shen Qingqiu ripped that free, ignored how it roared like the One Ring did when it wasn't headed towards Sauron and chucked over the cliff roughly in a Fuck If He Knew direction.

Turned to find all the manic rage to Luo Binghe drained. His long neck sagging under such sorrow while his head remained at the same height. He wept acid tears burning small holes in the stone beneath their feet. Shiny green slime flooded out from the pores along Binghorse's body. Looking as wet and pathetic as the day Shen Qingqui pulled him from the pond years ago.

"I'm never chosen. Shizun will only ever run away or look at me in disgust..." The necklace had fallen from Shen Qingqui's grip and was hanging just as limp and sadly as its owner by his drooping ears.

Shen Qingqui... he could... begrudgingly acknowledge that he may not be the best at identifying his feelings.  One or two might slip through the esoteric gap.  Could be a little too fuzzy to focus on or label.  But this was still worth the try.

Even if he couldn’t say ‘I love you’ in the right language.  He should make the effort to say it in his language.  “I’m for you.”  Pressed on past the dawning shock and tremble to his words.  “You needn’t worry. Ever or so.”

A moment of snotty breath (and face still as peerless to look upon) then Luo Binghe threw himself forward.

"There there." Shen Qingqui pat along feeling the stick and unstick of his hand along the mucus covered flank. "This teacher wonders how he ended up with such a sticky disciple. Tell this one what you want hmm?"

He wanted the two of them to go together. Away and into the golden horizon. Galloping strong with Shen Qingqiu on his back.

"Can you believe that my king?" Shang Qinghua shook his head ruefully. Cucumber bro astride the monstrosity glitch version of his OC stallion son. Now literal stallion hybrid that leapt into the glowing sunset. "Guess they're happy huh?"

The warhorse, who was several degrees colder than absolute zero and somehow still moving, huffed out a frozen breath. Mobei-Jun's jagged chunk of an ice horn was catching the far light. It was actually kind of... well Shang Qinghua might understand better than previously thought.

Turned to watch the happiest cryptid and cryptid lover disappear together.

At least for two people, the sight was majestic.
