Sorry literally one small rant about the blue bracelet movement about why I think it's disingenuous.

I literally posted in a local liberal Facebook group "Hey. If you want to show your ideals wear a mask and protect yourselves and others."

And the blue bracelets are mad, calling me a troll, telling me they're uncomfortable, asking if I wear my mask all the time.

I've literally worn my mask at concerts. Like... the fuck. And I know people that were anti-mask that now won't take them off because they're like "Damn I haven't gotten sick once since I was forced to wear this." In high customer service jobs.

That's why I won't trust them. They just want to have their little friendship bracelets but won't protect our most vulnerable.

Stop worrying about wearing a blue bracelet to signal to people you’re “safe” and actually be safer by wearing a face mask.

Covid never ended. We should still be wearing out masks in public. It will signal to me that you probably voted Kamala and, much more importantly, give a shit about people other than yourself infinitely more than wearing a useless blue bracelet.

As a white passing POC cisgender woman, I think they’re a great idea. My family who look like our ethnicity have mixed reviews of the idea but the general thought is this:

We’d rather know your heart is in the right place than have to wonder. My younger sister is a very obviously native, dark featured intersex lesbian- she’s a HUGE fan of the idea. Basically…

Do it.

It’s subtle. It’s quiet. You can easily lie about what it means if the wrong person asks. (Say it’s pro police, child abuse awareness, etc)

So I saw on TikTok that women (primarily white) are banding together and wearing blue bracelets to show other women and POC that they are a safe person. Just thought it was a neat and subtle way to recognize each other out there.
