The biblical book of Esther in Hebrew with Hungarian translation. Published in Budapest in 1943 in a climate informed by the Nazi-allied Hungarian government’s harsh anti-Jewish laws, this edition makes for an especially poignant telling of Queen Esther’s rescue of the Jews from massacre in ancient Persia. The Jews of Hungary were deported to Nazi concentration camps after German occupation the following year.
