Sissel: Oh! Britte, how was your day?
Britte: HORRIBLE! And stop interrogating me!
Sissel: Mine was great. Thanks for asking.
Lemkil: I raised two perfectly functional daughters!
Sissel: You have two other daughtera none of us know about?
Britte: We should start a club for all of us that have stabbed a sibling with a fork!
Braith: I don't have a sibling, but do other kids count?
Britte: Yes.
Braith: *Friendship Increased To 100*

Sissel: Papa, am I adopted?
Lemkil: No, of course not.
Sissel: Yay!
Lemkil: Why would I choose you after all?
Sissel: 😢
Britte: 🤣
(Poll) Skyrim: Which Child Do You Want to Adopt?
In Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, you have an option to adopt a child (or adopt children. But the limit is 2. 6 if you get a mod) if you install Hearthfire. Some children have their own past revealed as to why they are orphaned and their own hardship.
Alesan - He and his father (a sailor) were on a boat when his father got sick. The crew dropped the pair off at Dawnstar and left without them. Alesan's father died a few days later. He delivers food to the miners in Dawnstar to make money to survive. At night, he can be found sleeping on the floor in the Windpeak Inn.
Blaise - His parents were members of the Imperial Legion but both were killed in an ambush. He's only surviving by working on a farm that he hates. He has to sleep in the stables with the animals. (If you're a Stormcloaks and you adopt him, it would be ironic. Because of his parents were part of the Imperial Legion)
Lucia - When Her parents died, her aunt and uncle took over everything they owned, and then they kicked her out because she was "worthless." She's a beggar in Whiterun. A surly, drunken hobo in Whiterun is nice to her.
Sofie - Her mother died when she was young and her father was a Stormcloak soldier who was killed in battle (or didn't come back). She sells flowers in Windhelm. Windhelm looks cold. (If you side with Imperials it would be ironic of you adopt her, because her father is/was a Stormcloak)
Francois Beaufort - He's one of the orphans that live in Honorhall Orphanage. He mentions that his parents dropped him off there a year ago, but never came back. Despite them saying they'll return for him. He and the other orphans were miserable because of the headmistress of the orphanage Grelod the Kind.
Samuel - He's one of the orphans that live in Honorhall Orphanage. His mother, who worked at the orphanage, died when he was born and the fate of his father is unknown. Like the other orphans who lived in Honorhall Orphanage, he suffered under Grelod the Kind
Hroar and Runa Fair-Shield parent's fates are never mentioned. Hroar mentions that his late mother told him his name is inspired by a roar of a lion. Runa Fair-Shield claims that because she's the only girl at the orphanage, the boys pick on her and make her do all the chores. They are both live in Honorhall Orphanage, suffering under Grelod the Kind's cruelty.
Sissel and Britte are twin sisters and not orphans but you can make them one after killing their abusive father. Britte often beats on Sissel. Sissel gets worse treatment from both Britte and her father. Their father doesn't seem to care for the two of them. Sissel is learning magic from Jouane Manette, who says she seems to possess a talent for it, and talks about visions of a kind, elderly dragon. (You can adopt one of them or two of them. Or none of them. But at least Runa won't be the only girl there. And they will be taken care of better if you kill Grelod the Kind.)

Valvin adopted sissel and britte because he felt guilty about his cousin killing their dad. Even though Reyla said it was for the best he struggles to imagine how bad it was. Like you made them orphans Reyla! How is that for the best! Also he teaches both britte and sissel magic. Since that’s the only combat he knows and he wants them to be able to protect themselves.
