"What if it happens again?"
"You won't face it alone."
Bromius from Soulframe
EURIPIDES' INVOCATION TO DIONYSOS BROMIOS
O Bromius, leader, god of joy,
Bromius, take me there!
There the lovely Graces are,
and there Desire, and there
the bacchants have the right to worship.
The deity, the son of Zeus,
in feast, in festival, delights.
He loves the goddess Peace,
generous of good,
preserver of the young.
To rich and poor he gives
the painless delight of wine.
But him he hates who scoffs
at the happiness of those
for whom the day is blessed
and blessed the night;
whose simple wisdom shuns the thoughts
of proud, uncommon men.
What the common people
believe and do,
I too believe and do.
(trans. by William Arrowsmith, lines 412–430)
Euripides, The Bacchae

Oh Dionysoi
Oh Zagreus, born from Lady Persephone, son of the high queen of the afterlife, queen of death itself
Oh Zagreus, you climbed upon the throne of our reality, destined to rule, you held the bolts of the highest lord, you held them like a simple toy
Oh Zagreus, you suffered sparagmos at the hands of the titans, your wounds wept, your body bled, only a heart like yours could prevail in such trauma
You prevailed to be reborn
Oh Bromius, born from Mother Semele, son of the great priestess of the King, the great tragedy bound princess
Oh Bromius, you caused great joy for your mother, her feet trailed dances around her room, around her very kingdom, her joy overfilled
Oh Bromius, you lost your mother to the lightning, your mother burst at the atomic level, incinerated by the holy face of her lover
But yet again, you prevailed to be reborn
Oh Iacchus, born from Almighty Lord Zeus, son of the highest king in the highest halls of our reality
Oh Iacchus, you were sewn into the thigh of our lord, you became a God born from the king himself, born in secret from those meant to harm you
Oh Iacchus, you went on to create wine, to free our souls and minds from the horrors of life, you ascended to Olympus, your rightful home
Oh Dionysus, we praise you as you deserve
