I've been meaning to do a deep dive into your blog, I've been looking through phantoms-lair's Scooby-Doo and Mystery Skulls tags (I went as far back as I could, like 3 or 4 years) and I keep coming accross stuff of your I wanna read but I cant because you migrated all your stuff to a new account and the links are dead....so expect to see more-mystery-skulls-please or lord-shaggy reblogging like everything in the next week or two

You said theres supplemental information, because I like the videos, am immensely curious, but also haven’t exactly parsed out what the hell is going on….

Orangey was posed to kill his friend, doesn’t seem to remember it, but it cost him his arm, and Pinky doesn’t seem to know (or maybe doesn’t care) that it wasn’t Orangey fault. And theres the dog that’s actually a nine-tailed fox who has Orangey freaked out and may or may not have been involved in the death. Then theres the plant lady who maybe seems to be connected up to Bluey somehow and seems to be the instigator of the whole thing whose motives are as of yet unclear

So Orange is Arthur Kingsmen, Blue is Vivi Yukino, Pink/Purple is Lewis Pepper, Doggo is Mystery, and PLant Lady is Shiromori. There’s also the Green Spirit ??? (I call him Mark for short, but that;s just me) Profiles are Here

The basics, as we’ve worked them out, is the Mystery Skulls (a paranormal investigation team headed by Vivi) were investigating a cave. Lewis and Vivi are dating and Arthur’s a little upset (current guess is he’s feeling a little third wheely, but unconfirmed) They split up in the cave and while close to a cliff edge ??? possessed Arthur and killed Lewis. Mystery turned into his true form, a kitsune and managed to remove the spirit from Arthur, taking his arm in the progress.  ??? Seems to be sealed in the arm.

Vivi was ground zero for Lewis’s violent landing and his dying wish was for her not to remember seeing that, and it seems to have gone out of control and all memory of Lewis was gone.

Fast forward. Vivi had no memory or Lewis and Arthur has no memory of what happened after he was possessed. Since neither remembers Lewis’s death he’s presumed missing and Arthur is on a quest to find him. 

During this quest the van broke down in front of a creepy old house haunted by a skeletal ghost. It turns out this ghost is none other than Lewis Pepper, who didn’t realize Arthur was possessed and has come back from the dead for revenge for being killed by his ‘best friend’, though he’s stopped in his tracks by seeing his lost love Vivi.

Mystery, the only one who knows the whole story, says nothing for reasons unknown.

Arthur grabs Vivi and flees from the house. Not realizing the ghost was Lewis, he resumes their search. Meanwhile Shiromori shows up. She has some connection to Mystery (Possibly a jubokko, possibly created by him, unclear). 

Tough they once were allies, Mystery turned against her, teaming up with a female warrior named Mushi who defeated her. She’s managed to track down Mystery, accidentally reawakening Lewis in the progress. The fight for a bit, then both resume their quest for revenge. Sadly for those in the van, the two find their quarry at roughly the same time, leading to the events of Hellbent. Shiromori is temporarily startled by Vivi, as she is the descendant of Mushi and bears a strong resemblance, but upon realizing it wasn’t her attacks with renewed vigor. Meanwhile Lewis has gotten his hands on Arthur, and is poised to kill him in the same way Arthur killed him.

Revealing his identity shocks Arthur; the friend he was looking for is not only dead, but the wraith trying to kill him? In his shock he loses his will to fight and Lewis drops him.

And now we’re all waiting till October to see what happens next

Hi :) what's your top 5 musicals?

Time for me to reveal my extremely basic tastes in musicals!

1. Les Miserables: It’s profound and beautiful. I love the characters, and I love how often themes are reused and woven in with other songs to deepen the characters and themes. I always skip “Master of the House” and most of the stuff with those characters, but otherwise it’s amazing.

2. The Sound of Music: It’s got nuns, cute kids, a heartwarming love story, and then takes a sharp left turn into fighting Nazis. What’s not to love? I saw a local production of it this weekend, and which gave me a new appreciation for its strengths and flaws. It very much comes from a different era of musicals--half the songs feel like they’re just thrown into the show because they had a few extra songs lying around--and the story’s so disjointed that it feels like the parts are greater than the sum, but when the parts are this great, does it really matter? I’ll always love it beyond reason.

3. Newsies: This soundtrack got me through studying for LPN boards. It’s such a unique concept, and it’s fun to have such a male-dominated musical. I love the energy that infuses this show. Overall, I like the musical more, though the movie does a few things better (I like the character of Katherine, but it’s super dumb that she’s Pulitzer’s daughter. And "King of New York” just doesn’t make sense when it’s sung about a woman).

4. My Fair Lady: It’s a musical all about accents! Of course I’m going to love it. The songs are catchy and witty and I love both Henry and Eliza (don’t much like her father, but everything else is pretty good).

5.  The Phantom of the Opera: Unfortunately, I was once a teenage girl. The music, the story, the romance, the mystery--it enthralled me. Now, its sensuality is a bit much for me, but it’s got some pretty amazing music (“All I Ask of You” is one of the great love songs) with some strong characters. I’ve always viewed the Phantom as a complex, pitiable villain rather than a romantic interest, so I love that it ends with him letting Christine go. I’m unimpressed by takes that try to make him into a romantic figure or turn Raoul into a villain.

Personally, I have nothing against them *inserts footnote*: as a matter of fact, footnotes were the place were Things Happened. Only few people were aware of this of course, because most preferred to ignore them. Both the things and the footnotes *end of footnote*

Hehe! I’M GLAD THAT WE ARE ON THE SAME PAGE!! Because seriously, this fic is less than 1000 words at present, and I already have 9 footnotes...

As long as it's funny, the book has footnotes that jump across pages

Funny is certainly the aim! We shall see how it pans out in the end though. *fingers crossed*

@bubba-h I have a number of problems with this though. For one thing, ghost stories and lore about Native Americans/First Nations are told entirely through the perspective and the lens of white people and colonizers. What this means is that you’re not even getting a narrative that humanizes them, you’re getting an orientalist, racialized story that’s told for the benefit of white people. 

Not to mention, if you know anything about Native American/First Nations culture, you know that their stories and narratives are theirs to tell, and they have very specific rules about that type of thing. Which makes the light handed way white people often treat those stories even worse, because it lacks respect.

Finally, a lot of those stories aren’t exactly about the trauma of colonialism/imperialism. Ghost stories about white people center the trauma those people suffered while living. They’re made to humanize those people in some way, even in death. Ghost stories abt Native Americans/First Nations told by white people are abt painting them as caricatures, and not abt humanizing them. There’s a big difference.
