DAY 1 - UNCONVENTIONAL KISSES
@bucktommyfluffebruary is finally here!! I hope you'll enjoy this one!
Sometimes, things just didn't go as planned.
That was fine. Tommy was used to things not always going his way and had learned to just accept it as it was. It was one of his either many irritating flaws or desirable perks, depending on the situation.
Except, today was supposed to go right and it just… did not. So Tommy was irritated.
"Yep. Looks like you've earned yourself a trip to the hospital. Sorry, man."
Scratch that. Tommy was embarrassed.Refused to let that show by glaring at Diaz for delivering the news he absolutely had not anticipated to hear.
"Is that really necessary? Can't you just… fix it?"
"Let's see! A possible concussion. A sprain that could very well be a fracture on your arm. You'll need an x-ray just to be sure," the medic tells him apologetically, and Tommy throws his head back and groans, ignoring the pounding headache that is slowly being overtaken by whatever meds they had pumped into him upon their arrival.
It was his own stupidity that had led him to this. An idea forming in his head that had let the enthusiasm get the better of him when he had opened the bottle of oil that had somehow spilled over his hand and let the slick substance release the bottle from his grip only to spill its content all over his dining room floor.
Then, foolishly, he had moved way too quickly to clean up the mess and had managed to slip and fall. Still in his boxer briefs.
And with all of 118 staring at him.
"Sorry, man," Eddie spoke again, apologetically. "Looks like whatever plans you had tonight will have to wait."
As if Tommy didn't know that.
"Fantastic," he muttered under his breath. "There goes an attempt to surprise my fiance." He is not pouting, and if it looks like he does, it's clearly the meds making it look like he is.
"I'm sure your fiance will be very understanding and be very forgiving considering the circumstances," a soothing voice adds sympathetically, and Tommy absolutely does not whine upon hearing it because it warms his soul.
"He was gonna come home soon after his shift," he says pathetically, his voice slurring slightly. "Was gonna give 'im a massage. Feel 'im up a little. Make 'im feel good. So good. Like he makes me feel good when he uses his—"
"Oookay! Hey, better get you boarded onto the ambulance, huh? Get you all nice and comfy!"
It's Howie's voice. Tommy lets another whine escape him as he turns his head to look at the pair of blue eyes gazing at him warmly from the man standing next to Howie. The man with the soothing voice. "Gonna need you to look 'way, captain," he warns Howie and reaches out his non-injured hand to tug on the collar of the uniform belonging to the gorgeous blue-eyed member of the team until he feels his lips pressing against his own.
It's more of a pressure of lips than a kiss, but it's enough to make Tommy's soul purr in contentment and enough for him to smile up at the firefighter, who gazes at him fondly. "Sir. I don't think that's appropriate," Evan scolds him lightly. A series of groans echoes around Tommy, who grins loopily at the love of his life.
"I thought he was engaged?" Whispers the probie, scandalized over what she had just witnessed.
"Right! You haven't met my fiance yet,' Evan says, hand splayed over Tommy's bare chest and covers him with a blanket. "Daniella is our new probie," he explains to Tommy, who lets out a soft grunt as a greeting, his gaze still glued on Evan.
"Oh. So you're the one he wanted to— oh!"
"So! A trip to the hospital?" Tommy hears Howie plead, and Eddie agrees with a "God yes!"
"Buck, you wanna ride with—?"
"Yes he does," Tommy decides, his hand gripping onto his fiance's hand. "Not the kind of ridin' I had in min—"
"How is he worse than you are?" Eddie asks Buck, who laughs warmly as the load Tommy into the ambulance.
"Why do you think we get on so well?" Evan grins as he joins in on the back, looking pleased and almost proud and making Tommy's heart soar.
"I love you," he murmurs. "Was gonna make you feel so good, Evan."
"You always do, honey," Evan says fondly and kisses the tip of his fingers affectionately.
"I'm gonna marry you so hard when I marry you."
Evan laughs and Tommy knows that if sounds could heal his fractured arm and possibly concussed brain, it would be the sound of Evan laughing.
"I'm gonna marry you even harder,"
"Well I'm gonna marry you—"
"Are you guys being serious right now?" Eddie pleads.
"Deadly," Tommy deadpans. "Hush now, I'm tryin' to woo my future husband."
"I think you're doing just fine without trying, Tommy," Eddie muses.
