BUDDIE: WAS IT CASUAL?
Was it casual when I spent an entire episode trying to get your attention because I was jealous?
Was it casual when your son called me when you were having a breakdown and I got there as quick as I could?
Was it casual when our teammate said "Isn't that what we all want in a partner, knowing they have your back?" And years ago we promised to have each others backs yet your ex wife said years before that you didn't have her back?
Was it casual when I rawled under a fire truck to save you despite the fact I had trauma from being crushed under one?
Was it casual when afer you woke up from being shot and I went to see you my body and expression relaxed and I was able to take a deep breath because you were okay?
Was it casual when an Instagram live saw us together and starting saving how cute we'd be together?
Was it casual when right before I kissed another man I couldn't stop talking about you and how great you are?
Was it casual when my sister said "He's cute" and I thought she was talking about you?
Was it casual when I was the one to bring you home after you got shot and not your girlfriend who had been in hospital with you?
Was it casual when I looked disappointed after you said my coming out didn't change a thing between us?
Was it casual when I tasted your blood before your lips?
blue is buck and white is eddie
I just? can’t believe all these things are canon now. Eddie saying “I don’t panic” and the doctor countering with “because you’re a guy?” + her using the word repression. Confirming the toxic masculinity that we know Eddie struggles with thanks to his father telling him to “suck it up”. Carla calling out Eddie last season for basically casting a new family for his son, only for Eddie to have a fucking panic attack when the woman he cast as Mom actually is called and assumed Mom by a stranger. Eddie saying “no, it’s been great” and fucking turning to look at Ana adding “right?” as if trying to convince not only the doctor but literally everyone else in the room - himself included - that things have been going good, they’ve been going great, right? it’s been fine, it’s been easy, right? I’m moving forward, right? Like I am actually losing my shit over how well this all fits in with Eddie fighting so damn hard to hold on to his heterosexuality.
I have a thought about the dispatch fire.
Imagine after the fire is over and taking care of, Chim of course goes to Maddie like how he did when dispatch was taken hostage. Also in that episode we see Buck stands back because Chim is his sisters person. This also means we should get a parallel of Buck going to Eddie because he is his person.
Every now and then I remember Oliver said Buck and Eddie are gonna talk about the shooting, like, really talk about it, and I stare into the void for five minutes because my brain refuses to believe it
No but like it feels like gaslighting? Like this show is out here like YOU'RE READING TOO MUCH INTO IT! And? We're not! We're being PRESENTED with a romantic relationship!! It's not even that the actors have chemistry, it is WRITTEN and PRESENTED like a relationship! And the fact that they keep telling us it's NEVER going to happen and we're CRAZY. that's gaslighting sir. Jake Gyllenhaal would be proud.
