I saw a post that said Tommy should return to highlight to or even just tell Buck that his “I’m not your last” was a reference to Eddie. But also it would be nice for Buck to get closure on Tommy. We have only seen that Buck DIDNT have closure. And, while I’m a buddie lifer, I think Buck getting closure would be positive (also like how Abby came back to say goodbye and everything about Tommy’s role in Buck’s life is so Abby coded).

For Eddie… even if he doesn’t come to terms with his feeling for Buck this season, I would really like to have Chris asking about how Buck is doing. Even maybe have Ramon and Helena ask how Buck is- they’ve met him.

Aaaaaand finally if we are taking Eddie to El Paso, please please please let us see one or both of Eddie’s sisters who we have heard about but who have never appeared on screen. Eddie getting teased by his sisters or one of them asking Eddie to set them up with this “Buck” they’ve heard so much about…. 👀👀👀. Please, I am begging.

But I think we need to see that Buck is a core part of Eddie’s life. Even in El Paso. No matter where he goes, a part of him is linked to Buck. I think Chris is a core of that - Eddie himself brought it up in him yelling at Buck sabotaging subletters. I think we need to see other people recognizing the role that Buck plays in his life and we already have textual evidence from Tommy that Chris talks about Buck all the time.

Seven Sentence Sunday

just becasue I've actually managed to get some writing done today, have a section of what was supposed to be a short fic to get me back into writing mode for my time travel AU but instead has become a monster in its own right 😂😭

Eddie and Buck take Christopher to Disneyland at the start fo the school holidays and Chris is practically vibrating with excitement in his seat the entire car journey there, chatting away at a million miles an hour about all the things he wants to do and where he wants to eat.

A couple of weeks ago, they had sat down with Chris for a video call with one of the Disney cast members to go through the DAS advance program and Buck had downloaded the genie app to his phone in readiness.

The evening prior to their trip had the three of them sat around the table in the Diaz dining room planning which rides they wanted to go on.

Christopher writing a list and numbering them in order of preference.

Once he had gone to bed, Eddie and Buck settled onto the sofa, Buck nestled between Eddies legs, with a beer each and the tv on in the background.

Buck had set about planning a route around the park and how to make the most of their day so they could achieve as much as possible while Eddie sat and watched him with the fondest smile on his face, running his fingers through Bucks hair.

Buck had mentioned wanting to ride splash mountain before it was closed for its transformation into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure “So they could go back in a couple of years and compare the upgraded technology and animatronics with what the ride was currently using.”

I said I was done hoping for buddie to go cannon but everyone talking about buck getting struck by lightning and all the speculation about Eddie helping him recover... Y'all can't keep doing this to me, not again...

15032022 - 9-1-1

His phone rings and it's still dark outside, and so Buck would very much like to just ignore it and go back to sleep.

Except, it's the ringtone he's specifically set for the Diaz landline, and that can mean only one thing. He's answered before he's even fully awake. "Chris? Chris, what's wrong?"

He can hear Christopher's heavy breathing before the boy says anything. "Buck?"

Buck's already dragging a pair of sweats up his legs and over his hips and looking for one of his hoodies. "Hey, talk to me, buddie. Tell me what's wrong." He throws a glance over his shoulder. Taylor is still asleep.

Christopher's next words make his blood run cold and have him down the stairs and in his shoes before the boy has even finished talking. "There's something wrong with dad. I think he's having a bad dream, but he won't wake up. I tried…" He sounds scared, and Buck doesn't remember the last time he's ever heard Christopher sound scared. He hates it, viscerally.

"Listen to me, Chris," he says as he takes the elevator down. Normally, he'd be flying down the stairs, but Christopher needs him to sound calm right now. "Your dad's gonna be okay, alright? Sometimes, people have a harder time waking up from bad dreams. It happens, even to guys as tough as your dad."

Chris’s voice trembles. “So what do I do?”

The jeep acts up when he tries to start it, but eventually, Buck’s on the road to Eddie’s house. “You wait for me. Alright? I’m already on my way. Let your dad sleep for now.”

“But-”

Buck understands the need to make sure a loved one isn’t hurting. But who knows what Eddie’s nightmares are about tonight. It wouldn’t do for Chris to try and wake him again, only for Eddie to be stuck in a vision of, say, Afghanistan, and see an enemy instead of his son. No, it’s better if Chris stays away for now. “I’ll be there in a few minutes, Chris. So promise you’ll wait for me in your room.”

There’s a hesitant pause, before Chris’s voice comes, a sad whisper. “I promise.”

Buck breathes. “Okay.” Steps on the gas.

(He’s gonna drag Eddie to Frank’s office tomorrow even if it kills him. Even if he has to throw a kicking, screaming Eddie over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

Dammit, Eddie.)

Slightly grumpy that we were tragically robbed of:

1. Buck babysitting Chris. (Game night shenanigans? Maybe Buck struggling to avoid the topic of Eddie dating and making up increasingly dumb excuses for what Eddie’s doing and offhanded comments about how he wishes Eddie was there with them instead?)

2. Buck negotiating with Chris to go to bed. (Starting to tell a bedtime story and then Chris goes “nO!” and Buck figures out that he can use this as a bargaining chip?)

3. Chris showing up at Buck’s, unannounced. (Maybe angry and pacing and frantic and Buck is immediately fretting over him like the protective dad he is and doing everything to calm him down? Or maybe teary-eyed and desperate for a hug from his Bucky?)

4. Eddie coming to pick Chris up. (Hugging Chris and then Buck, both a little frantic and lingering? Eddie thanking Buck? Saying that he knew Chris was safe the second he found out he was with Buck because nowhere could be safer and nothing could be more reassuring to him than knowing Chris is with Buck? Him and Chris actually talking out their issues before throwing dating back into the equation?)

5. Buck inviting Eddie to his double date with Albert and Veronica. (Albert and Veronica exchanging looks because... Buck knows this was supposed to be a double date, right? Or better yet, Buck asks Eddie to please just pretend to be his date for the evening?)
