MORE BYLER SYMBOLISM

Ok so like I said before I’m currently rewatching Stranger Things, I am now on S4 E2 and I am noticing SO MUCH STUFF I NEVER NOTICED BEFORE

This is a very small detail I just thought it was something fun to point out—

First, the song choice is Tarzan Boy which we all know what this is about I’m guessing by now, bc I know the bylers have analyzed the heck out of the Rink-O-Mania scene, but for a reminder what it’s about:

Then we get this little fun Extra popping up on screen with some interesting colors:

Yeah, people wear blue and yellow in the show all the time, doesn’t mean that specific person, object, thing is symbolism to byler…

Well in this case it most definitely is a hint/symbol —whatever you wanna call it to byler bc of the one word that it on his shirt.

Not to mention this Extra is sporting a nice looking hair cut what looks like Will’s…

But even down to the socks, which yellow is on top, closing the blue in—same with the shirt and pants, all the yellow is around the blue.

Yellow is more open — Will being more comfortable with his sexuality, or accepting of his feelings towards Mike that are real and genuine

Blue is closed in — Mike still not sure what is going on with how he is feeling about his sexuality, if he’s in love with his friend or not

every reference to will in this scene:

- this is happening in will’s room

- mike helps el get will’s teddy bear down from a shelf in will’s closet

- “and then i was thinking maybe you could come up here for christmas— and will too” (also with will’s open closet in frame)

- el kisses mike— who is framed right in front of will’s closet (a lightbulb cleverly framed above his head…will is often associated with light) and mike’s eyes are also wide open throughout said kiss

- during the kiss, will’s teddy bear is pressed between them

bonus: this scene happened first

i’d be putting it lightly if i said a certain someone may have been on mike’s mind throughout his moment alone with el

whenever someone says that subtext doesn’t matter or little details shouldn’t be analyzed because they’re not meant to be i always want to bring up the fact that will says his favorite candy is reese’s pieces in s2 (mike wasn’t present) and in s3 mike takes a moment to grab reese’s pieces from the vending machine and hand it to will when he’s supposed to be focused on getting back together with his gf (lucas encouraging him to do so). but he puts will first in that sense.
