It's very clear to me that the reddit fandom and the tumblr fandom are VERY different lol, just posted this to r/camphalfblood and the majority of comments were literally just saying 'nuh uh'

Leo being distrusting towards magic because it doesn’t make any logical sense, and if he doesn’t understand how something works it’s dangerous and can hurt him. Leo dating a sorceress who’s used magic for thousands of years. Calypso having intense abandonment issues, dating someone who’s been running his whole life. Leo, who sacrificed himself for his friends without a second thought, dating a girl who’s only want is for someone to be selfish enough to chose her. Leo taking everything apart in his head and looking at the mechanics mentally, because he’s only comfortable with tech. Calypso shouting at him that not everything is a machine capable of being fixed.

caleo- i used to like it, but as time went by i really really disliked this ship. i think leo’s character arc was ruined by the “seventh wheel” thing and the rush to put him in a relationship like the rest of his peers was so unnecessary?? like he’s 15? there’s no need for him to bone a titan and then DIE in the process of trying to get back to her. i think calypso was poignant and important enough with her appearance to percy in battle of the labyrinth and connection to zoe, and her being resurrected only to parallel that with leo but WORSE seems so odd to me on riordan’s part. i also go so hard for valgrace because there’s so many implications there that weren’t explored and valgrace happening instead of nico’s outing would have been so... much better

jason’s death- ultimately unnecessary as well. i understand the weight of the prophecies in toa but that death was pure shock value. unlike leo’s in boo which could be considered significant to the plot and prophecy (even though i have my own thoughts on that), jason could have lived and nothing would have changed besides his little dream apparition to apollo and helping him “remember to be human” or whatever that means, as if anyone else in the entire world couldn’t have taught lester that. jason’s character was full of wasted potential and i’ll never stop talking about it!

Y’all get mad at Rachel for cockblocking Percabeth, but you should really be mad at Calypso.

Rachel is actually an interesting character, with an arc that separated herself from Percy and she actually got to be her own person.

Calypso was written as an obstacle to keep the will-they-won’t-they going so that Rick could sell another book. She is there for one chapter, and doesn’t really do much for Percy’s arc except to give Annabeth a reason to be pissed at him.

She was then brought back in HoH because Leo “needed” a girlfriend. She served no other purpose.

Something something female characters being written by men that only exist to enhance the arc of the male protagonist something something.
