Exam crunch! My first exam is on Saturday- but it’s open book and I’m not worried, my second exam is on Monday and this is the one I’m worried about! I only have an 80 in this class and am uneasy about it! Then Tuesday and Wednesday exams as well! . . This is how I am most productive when I study! I start by turning on rocking music or a movie that keeps me motivated (one that I’ve seen a million times and am not distracted by #legallyblonde)! I then open each book I know I’m going to use to the section I will need so I don’t have to keep going back and forth! . . Writing up care plans for fake patients last year definitely prepared me for writing real ones this semester! . . Care plans are definitely not a strength for me, not written ones anyways! I constantly make mini care plans in my head and did it as a PSW/CNA/PCT all the time, if you see someone with reddened/pink skin over a boney prominence I immoderately start caring for it and thinking “I need to reposition this person every two hours” “I need to offload pressure on this area, let’s use a pillow to elevate it” “this breakdown is near my incontinence/damp(sweating), we need to keep it dry with barriers or gauze”. . . I am constantly using my nursing skills and applicable knowledge without really realizing it. I try to put myself in a real patient situation when I have to write these care plans for school, and then go back and find the correct references and citations needed to ensure my work is accurate and not plagiarized . . Care plans! . . I on average use 3-6 textbooks for careplans to ensure they’re in depth enough. I also use the Gordon’s functional health pattern assessment to gauge the questions I’m going to ask and thus aide in forming my care plan. With an actual person -not a case study- I of course involve them in the planing as well! . . Use the nursing process, ADPIE!
