REVENGE of there’s MORE #TATTOOFLASH that I’d LOVE to #tattoo on someone. . . I really love #NOSFERATU and just how weird of a character he is. #FWMurnau and his film company #Prana got sued “to death” by #BramStoker ’s wife after making the film. It was their first and last film Prana ever made. Hopefully Doug Jones can get a Nosferatu project going some day. Or maybe #RobertEggers who directed #VVITCH can make it awesome! The best interpretation has got to be John Malkovich in Shadow Of The Vampire. And also Peter from #Whatwedointheshadows ! . . I’ve been taking old flash and running it through my own filter to come up with a new twist on the classics. I’ve also been trying to take some of my own interests and bringing that to tattooing. . . Inks for last week’s #Ministry @weareministry & #DeathGrips @bbpoltergiest poster at @expresslive in #ColumbusOhio more info here http://bodega.brianewing.com/ministry/ Lou at @garage_land commissioned me to do this poster for #AlJourgensen and the band. Was gonna post this yesterday but I got the sniffles from too much Halloweening. I finished this hours… more like minutes… before I had to jump in a car to exhibit at NYCC. Having next to no time to work on a project isn’t the most fun but it is a good exercise. In these moments I try to push myself to figure out ways to save time without losing quality. Fear of failure is a good motivator. #soarebutts I’d rather lose sleep than hate the final project. After I printed the sketch out onto bristol board I quickly tightened it up with a pencil so I would have a guideline to work with. In a weird way it’s kinda like tattooing where I hafta draw everything out, make a stencil and then tattoo over that. I inked everything with a #winsornewton series 7 numero 0 brush. Once I was done with that I scanned it in at 600 dpi and placed it into illustrator. I don’t vectorize the inks. I place them as a bmp tiff file. Because I scanned at such a high res I can enlarge it to 18x24 without losing quality or detail. From there I lay color and text on top of or behind the lineart. I hope everyone had a rad Halloween! Wolfman Marilyn Killjoys #testprint 24x18 #screenprint edition of 1 http://bodega.brianewing.com/wolfman-test-print/ Found this while hammering away on a new #Wolfman #gigposter thing. This is another piece that I appreciate for its simplicity. It combines the #werewolfoflondon #artprint #MarilynMonroe and the #FabulousKilljoys artprint. Test prints are basically made from taking an existing #print and using it to test the #color and #registration of the next print. It’s always a surprise when my printer sends me one of these. There’s no rhyme or reason to them and they look awesome! Over time I see or at least I learn a bit more on how better I can combine colors or at least try to think differently in my approach to design and posters. ALL remaining ORDERS are shipping this weekend!!! ALL of #theKISS prints have shipped! If you’re one of the good friends of mine that got a #NickCave poster - do not post it online yet!
