usually i dislike actual story components in my gimmick-y slice of life comedy manga, but i love this thing with hatano lol. not like anything is going to actually happen, as this would be the very anti thesis to the setting, but i'll enjoy it while it lasts for once lol.

Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 61

It’s a little harder to tell in the anime (ironically because they added colour and shading) but in the manga, all of their breaths are different. And I like that detail. 

Natsu’s is a plume of fire, it’s almost a little soft-looking, eating into Gajeel’s like it’s slightly curling into it. That’s why he causes so much destruction-- because his area of attack is really wide, and fire spreads easily. 

Gajeel’s is much more destructive-- there are iron shard within it, one hit from that will really shred through skin. His is like a lance to Natsu’s cloud of flames, and you can see that form the wind that sharply curls around it like a screw, in contrast to Natsu’s clouds of smoke and rubble. 

Wendy’s has a noticeably spiral-like shape, because it’s a tornado. I think they very specifically utilized this during the Edolas arc against Dorma Anim. 

Differences like these really fascinate me, because they’re all under the umbrella of Dragon Slayer magic, but the element makes them completely different beasts to deal with. 

I only wish that Mashima explored more of these without going into overpowered Lost Magic territory. I was much more interested in the differences between Wood and Ice Make magic rather than being thrown into the incredulously overpowered Memory Make and Arc of Embodiment that just broke all the preset rules (two hands, elemental, personality-based,) that made the base magic interesting. No hate on those though, I just wish we saw more of Gray’s ice magic potential before we dove right into the ‘I can do anything and everything’ magics.

Okay but like.. am I the only one who didnt interpret this as 'jihwa wanting to fuck nameless' but more like 'jihwa wants nameless to fuck nakyum as a last retort' and gave themselves a mini-heart attack??
